My good friend referred me to this clinic and I have been a patient particularly of Dr. Hanna for more than 13 years. He is a very knowledgeable and informative professional doctor. He is also compassionate and truly takes the extra mile to take care of me as his patient. He is my go-to for all medical and skin issues I have had to date. I have also had the pleasure to work with their techinician Amy. She is amazing and knowledgeable as well. The staff at this clinic are exceptional and very kind!
I'm actually shocked to read these reviews as I haven't had nearly as bad as an experience with this clinic. I've had eczema my whole life and have had my share of Dermatologists. Dr. Hanna has been upfront and given me education and options into how to best manage my condition and has had my eczema under control. He's also seen my son recently and their reception has been prompt in answering my emails and calling when there are cancellations to move up my appointments. My experience has been positive from the beginning and I am happy to have found him!
I’m not sure what to even say about my experience except that I’m never returning. I was very early to ensure I wouldn’t be late so I walked around the area and arrived on time. I ended up waiting 1.5 hours for a 2 minute appointment. I booked the afternoon off from work for this. Appointment wasn’t even helpful and I was mistakenly told I have a condition that I don’t have without an apology. I won’t return and please don’t waste your time. They might be paid by you or OHIP, but you’re not. The book multiple patients for the same time. Lots of people arrived much later than myself and were called in pretty fast. It’s torture having to wait in the reception area and having to listen to a group of 3 annoying patients whom were together for an appointment talking loudly across from each other and also another woman consistently coughing with no regard to others. I don’t mind stairs, by it’s in a house with several flights so good luck if you’re not mobile.
Wasted 3000 on Infini RF and I saw no results. Also a bunch of their services are priced are way above market value with no rationale offered. Also I’ve had to wait 45 minutes+ to see a derm sometimes for a pre booked appointment.
I started seeing Dr. Waller during the pandemic, and again recently in person, through a referral from my doctor for a medical issue. She is so kind and warm, and listens to my concerns. She answered all of my questions without making me feel self-conscious, or rushing me out the door. I have always wanted to see a dermatologist for some cosmetic procedures as well, but I didn't know where to start. Through my experience here, I will absolutely turn to Dr. Waller and Dermatology on Bloor for any personal dermatology concerns as well!
I would definitely not recommend this clinic. If you are a patient of Dermatology on Bloor please be very aware of any skin lesions and learn from my experience. I first saw Dr Hanna on February, 2021 about a lesion on my forehead. He treated it with liquid nitrogen. I asked if there was anything to worry about and he said he didn't believe so. The lesion returned and I had a follow up appointment on May, 2021. Dr Hanna again treated it with liquid nitrogen and prescribed some ointment. I again asked if this was serious and if he was concerned. He said "a little bit but we'll keep an eye on it". When the lesion returned on November, 2021, I tried to get a follow up appointment at Dermatology on Bloor but was told Dr Hanna was booked up until January, 2022. I was very concerned and was able to get an appointment at Lynde Dermatology in Markham. The dermatologist examined me and was concerned and immediately made an appointment with their resident plastic surgeon. The plastic surgeon took a sample of the lesion and sent it out for a biopsy. The biopsy showed I had a basal cell carcinoma and I would need surgery. I had MOHS surgery just over 3 weeks ago at St Joseph's Hospital. The surgery lasted 6 hours and needed a skin graft. The scar is over 4 inches in length. The resultant wound is very unsightly and will take many months, possibly years to recover and heal. I know you have to be your own advocate these days but the question is why did one dermatology clinic Lynde Dermatology recognize the problem and took the proper steps to diagnose the lesion properly while Dr Hanna of Dermatology on Bloor basically dismissed the seriousness of the lesion as it grew larger for over a year and needed very invasive surgery? Learn from my experience and be very aware.
I'm sad to be writing this review. I have been seeing Dr. Hanna for a couple of years now and have had a mostly positive experience. My only complaint up until this point would have been that it was tricky to squeeze in appointments, but I absolutely recognize that dermatology is a packed field and I can certainly excuse this issue. Overall, I was grateful for his help and was relieved when he put me on a medication that I thought really started to help my skin. While I wasn't cured, most of my pain had subsided and I was able to resume my regular life activities. Recently, however this positive experience has been completely flipped onto its head. In fact, in a very frightening way. In February of 2022, I had an appointment in which I ask the Dr. to refill a prescription for me. In March, I realized that the request was never submitted, so I reached out via email. They quickly replied that he faxed my pharmacy, but upon contacting my pharmacist I realized he refilled the completely wrong prescription. Mistakes happen. I emailed again asking them to fix the issue. They never replied. I followed up via phone and since his assistant has never picked up any of my calls, I left a message as always. Still no reply. At this point, we were in April and I began to worry. I started to call on a weekly basis and while the phone was never answered, I did leave messages regularly stating the urgency of the matter. The reason I spaced out my calls and emails originally was because they specifically ask you not to email or leave messages twice and wait "a few days" for them to answer. I was fine to comply with this as, again, I understand the state of this field. Unfortunately, this is just not doable when you are getting closer and closer to running out of doses. As a last ditch effort, I asked my pharmacy team to fax a request over, which they kindly did. Unsurprisingly, this was ignored too. Since I finally ran out of refills and missed my dose, I started calling different extensions a misuse of the other lines that I would never use unless it was an emergency, which this is. I was able to get the receptionist on the line and explained my situation- I was relieved to finally hear a voice on the other line. She spoke to Dr. Hanna's assistant for me, but was unable to put her on the phone. The explanation given was that the Dr. was told and was simply failing to fulfill this duty, and there was nothing to be done other than leave a sticky note reminder. Scary, considering the doctor knows the severity of my condition and simply can't be bothered to refill my prescription. No explanation was given for the several emails and phone messages ignored by his assistant. In a previous review I read, the response by the owner stated that they would never intentionally ignore a message, but there seems to be no other explanation after two months of trying. At this point, I am left to do nothing but wait and worry about the condition my skin will be in after being reliant on a medication for the last two years. I can only assume it will be painful and frustrating, and I worry that I will be missing work if it gets as bad as it was prior to starting my doses. I worried about posting a negative review considering I really need this doctor to work with me and hope to have a positive experience with him, but I do want to warn others to have a back up plan, especially if you are reliant on a medication. Don't assume that asking months in advance will be enough, follow up regularly.
I’ve had a very similar experience as Robert Wright’s review. I knew I had a form of skin cancer based on reading about the topic. I was assured by DrWaller that the lesion was non-cancerous. Never did a biopsy and treated it with nitrogen. Because I am skeptical and trust my own judgment I had a second opinion by a dermatologist in the US who immediately did a biopsy. Turns out it IS cancerous!!!! Basal Cell carcinoma. Also the nitro treatment that was done here only burned a part of the lesion not the whole thing.
I was referred by my doctor to this clinic for possible carcinoma in 2022 April. They contacted me and asked for an email and referral from doctor. The referral was sent and I received a response saying they were very busy and to contact in 2 weeks . When I tried to contact they said they had no info on me. They also said they were not taking new clients. It is now July and they now say oops we can schedule you for October. Got biopsy at another clinic and will never use this service. They are probably more interested in clients who pay direct for non ohip surgeries.
Dr Brittany Waller is the dermatologist I have been looking for for years. After having been waved away by other dermatologists over the last 4 years to help me with melasma , Dr Waller’s approach to care is thorough, friendly, genuine and rigorous.
