The employees were friendly and helpful! I was even issued my visa before I left the room. The reviews I read before coming were nothing like my experience. To ensure your experience is a good one, make sure to have all the documents you need in order, and just be friendly yourself!

If I could give negative stars, I would. The lady answered the phone basically yelled at me and hang up on the call for a simple question regarding if I could submit the visa application in Ottawa instead of Toronto (Ottawa embassy number is not reachable). I have never encountered a ruder consulate employee.

Very helpful and the service was fast. The government official even cracked a joke... It would have been helpful if we knew fingerprints can be taken at the consulate. Keep up the good work!

I thought the reviews must be some sort of joke. No. No joke. The person I spoke with answered the phone on speaker - for my personal questions. Completely inappropriate. He then proceeded to advise that only two of the three forms I needed were online - that I had to request in writing the third form, so that I could fill it out and send it back to them on paper. No other way than to do this or arrive in person - as if I have nothing better to do. Completely inappropriate and inefficient. Wish I could say I expected differently.

As a South African citizen, I'm embarrassed that this is the first 'taste' of our country that visitors to the consulate will experience. Carmen Klopper couldn't have said it better: "just put your sanity and common sense along with your cellphone in the locker" and let the employees there have their power trip.
