Coney Island Seafood

I've been going to this restaurant since I was a little kid and it will always be my favorite fish and chips. Nothing can beat it! I used to come after dance class with my grandparents because we lived just up the hill, the family has always recognized us and been extremely friendly; so if you're looking for family made traditional fish and chips Coney island is the place to go!

I've been a customer for 30 years and the food has always been great and consistent in it's quality. Easily the best fish and chips on White Rock beach.

Dated interior, but clean. Ordered 2pc f&c for hubby, 1pc f&c for me, and a coke each. Waited well over 20mins for food, but i could forgive that given the place was full and only 1 waitress on staff, who was the owner's daughter on her first shift. Our drinks never came. Glad we never got the cokes cos it turns out they are in cans (fine) and are $2.75 each (what???)! Finally managed to get the waitress' attention and asked for/got ice water. Fries were really good. Not salted, which i like as i can salt to my taste. But these didn't need salt - very nicely done. The fish was purportedly cod (tho the menu didn't actually SAY that) but i swear it was pollock. Asked the owner what kind it was and he said pacific cod...did not taste at all like any cod we had *ever* eaten, nor was did it have the texture or flake of cod. Hubby ate 1 and a bit pieces and i had about 1/3 of mine. The batter was ok but the fish was completely tasteless and, while not gross, was very unappetizing. We went to pay our bill and the 2 cokes were still on it. So i said "Um, yeah we never got the coke so that shouldn't be on it." She said "oh..." and took them off. Owner said he is one of 2 places on the east beach that does Halibut, and the only other one uses frozen 4oz fillets. We checked out other places on the way back to our car. They all serve halibut. Never in my entire life have i left $0.00 tip. Until tonight. Will not be going there again.

I've been coming to this restaurant for 34 years and it never disappoints. The halibut is amazing!

Great fish and chips. Made while you wait so it tastes and looks fresh. It started to drizzle just a little while we waited. The waiter came outside and kindly offered and then followed through with moving our table under the awning. The lady taking our order was really sweet. Super friendly staff. It's not much to look at, but don't let that deter you from stopping in.
