Comodo Chinese Restaurant

Had the buffet. Everything I put in my plate tasted great. Nice restaurant appearance wise.

We ordered take out & the food we ordered (nearly $70) came packed in nice plastic boxes with snug fitting lids. Included for free was minute rice with crusty bits and tasteless fried rice packed in Styrofoam. Frankly, we could have done without the free stuff; we'd have been happy with good food. The food was just... meh. We wondered if it had been cooked fresh or just taken from the pre-cooked buffet? The honey garlic ribs were tiny but tasty, however the bones were very splintered (which made it dangerous to eat) and the 'quart' they promised measured out to be just 1 (ONE!) cup for $10.75 When we called to ask about the food, the woman who answered was dismissive & pretended not to speak English well enough to say more than "Yes. Was food!" The fried wontons were unpleasantly stale! The beef dish was overcooked & SOGGY. Overall, disappointing at best. We hoped to enjoy good Chinese food but, sadly, this was not the quality of cooking that they would feed to their own families. The sweet & sour fried shrimp were nice, though they had lost any crispness in the packaging. We will not spend money @ this restaurant again (because this was our second substandard meal from Comodo) & we would definitely NOT recommend Comodo Restaurant.

I really wasn't expecting much from a Chinese restaurant in Gimli but this place was excellent. It's clear that the buffet is what most people go for, since the servers were only busy refilling waters the whole time we were there. The buffet was quite a bit larger than I was expecting, and had a great variety of dishes. Each of the dishes were full of flavor, and I was pleasantly surprised how good the deep fried fish was.... Similar to the little pork bites. The restaurant was very clean, even the bathrooms! Our bill was $28 and change plus tip for the two of us with waters to drink. We will be back!

The good....some of the food is tasty. The bad... Almost no food in the buffet. Very slow to refill. They say all you can eat.....pfft whatever.
