Looked really cool. Nice being right on the water and close to downtown. Not open in winter

Must see destination. Great for all ages. Note this is a seasonal site. Closed in winter, shorter hours and less staff in early spring and late fall. Check website for hours. Staff in historic clothing do presentations all day long, or you can just wander through the historically accurate restored 1770s era fort. Learn about 1700s traders, soldiers, American Indians, the women at the fort, and more. Demonstrations about period musket firing, cannon firing, gardening, cooking, baking in an outdoor bread oven and more. Two theaters with historic video presentations about 20 minutes long. Three+ museum exhibits, many houses you can walk through. Playground for the kids. Picnic area, restrooms, close up view of Bridge and souvenir shop are in area before you have to pay and worth a stop even if you can't get to fort.

Although this area seem to be a ghost town it suggests that it's a very happening place in the summertime. A lighthouse and many different buildings as well as a walking path and historical markers. It was a beautiful sight in the winter time with all the snow and ice but I would recommend going in the summertime or maybe fall.

Michigan beauty, the Mackinac Bridge, and ever-so-slightly-cheesy historical re-creations? Yes, thank you, I will visit again! I loved it here as a kid, and it's still nice as an adult. Though I really get a kick out of watching my son, an d other kids, trying to reconcile the time warp they seem to have just gone through. I don't usually review every little place I've been, but I like this one. The memories mingled with history lessons and people watching keep me coming back. It gets really busy around beginning and end of school season, but overall it's worth the extra people and the drive to get there. Watch out for bird poop!

Love walking along the shore & even out on the lake a bit. We went in January ‘18. Great time to go and get close to the bridge.
