It was a 40 minute round trip drive to this bakery but it was really worth it. Bought the Krackerkorn sourdough and multigrain sourdough tasted great and perfect texture. Service was courteous and friendly and I will definitely return. Update. Bought the baguette - beautiful crust and delicious.
If possible i would not even give 1 star. I’m not surprised to see the other 1 star reviews here stating facts. Even the replies on their reviews clearly proves that how rude the lady is. I went in to check out the bakery first time as it looks pretty nice. I was in a really happy mood and i picked croissant and even between the conversation we had was pretty full of bad attitude and i sensed because her replies were kinda non friendly. And then we started taking pictures outside the bakery somewhere and i thought as the bakery inside is aesthetic so i went inside and asked the rude lady if we can click some pictures in here and she said NO IT IS NOT ALLOWED! YOU CANNOT TAKE PICTURES IN HERE! YOU CAN ONLY TAKE PICTURES OUTSIDE. I was oh ohkay. I was literally regretting asking her after I already sensed her behavior in last 5 minutes. And lady or whoever you may reply whatever on this review, no one cares. You literally lost some potential customers. not because of the photography thing, but simply because of rude behavior. And unless you change this behavior you gonna keep loosing it. I hope you learn your lesson.
I came here to give them 5 stars and realized I already left 5 stars a while ago…. a few weeks ago, I had dinner with a small group of friends, and brought the pumpkin pie and a variety of cookies for dessert. Everyone loved it so much, we finished all of it! One of the best pumpkin pies I’ve ever had.
A small local bakery that bakes great crusty bread. A variety of types are available, including my favorite, a traditional rye loaf. Many cookies and sweets also available but for me the bread is the draw. Pleasant and friendly people I like dealing with the people who bake the product in a clean environment. I know that some of their products are sold in Masellis Italian Market on The Danforth on Saturday mornings. Limited parking but it is manageable. I recommend if you like good crusty and tasty bread.
Great bakery, I cannot agree with any of the reviews complaining about poor attitude or service. I had the opposite experience! Very friendly, and courteous. Really enjoyed everything I purchased. Looking forward to coming more often!
Date of purchase: Sunday, November 13, 2022 Really disappointed with the way they bake their breads. It was our first time trying this place and I will never go back. We went on a Sunday afternoon around 12:30pm and picked up: 1. Krackerkorn loaf rating: 3/10 2. Pana rustika loaf 3/10 3. Golden raisin brioche 6/10 4. Two cinnamon rolls 2/10 5. 2 bread puddings 1/10 All were subpar. Each of the bread loaves had an extremely hard bark that only hardened even more over time. I literally thought I was going to chip a tooth and it made my TMJ worse.... The cinnamon rolls lacked cinnamon flavour and the dough was extremely dry and chewy. The bread puddings lacked flavour and like the cinnamon rolls, they too were really dry. Lastly, the only thing remotely close to 'good enough' was the Golden raisin brioche. Like the cinnamon rolls, they too lacked cinnamon flavour and the swirl just wasn't sweet enough. The second day of having the krackerkorn and Pana rustika, I literally got heart burn because the bark was just too hard to digest. I thought I was getting h.pylori again but I realized my GERD symptoms only came up after eating a slice of these breads. Sourdough shouldn't give you GERD..... We tried the bread right when we got home and the first thing my hubby says is the lady knows her bread bark is hard, so it's intentional. Just really surprised and confused that there are customers who would enjoy a hard bark on their breads. But then again, it's the only sourdough bakery in the area that sells clean ingredient sourdough breads.
First I’ll say, amazing baguettes. Pretty close to Ô Petit Paris Boulangerie-pâtisserie in Montréal which probably has the most authentic French baguettes you’ll find around anywhere. Unfortunately, the person owner? employee? who was working there when I patronized their establishment was less than congenial. I was made to feel like a necessary inconvenience when all I wanted to do was spend some money in their place of business. Oh well, Toronto is a big city with many great bakeries where I’m sure I can find other delicious baguettes sans attitude…
I don’t think it’s ethical to sell a one or two-day old bread at the same price of fresh one without telling the customer. I bought two loaves of bread and unfortunately they weren’t fresh at all. Didn’t taste good either.
I have been here many times because the neighborhood lacks options, but each time I’m disappointed. The bread here just isn’t very good. Always dry, never keeps well. Prices are on the high end. ***updated to respond to the owner*** Fresh bread shouldn’t be stale by the end of the day. I’ve purchased from you many times, morning and afternoon. Almost always stale by the time dinner rolls around. Prices have always been on the high end, even pre-pandemic…nothing wrong with that…just want people to know what they’re in for.
I'm really enjoying what I've experienced this far. Staff are friendly and the breads truly artisan. I make my way when I can because it's worth the effort. Overall I think the pastries could be less bread-like.
