I had to go to the hospital for surgery, yes I had to wait a bit because there was more important emergencies ahead of me, but the nurses were absolutely amazing. I have never met a nicer group of nurses. They made me comfortable and did everything they could to help. I'm very impressed how wonderful they and my surgeon were!
Visited the hospital for an emergency and experienced a 4-hour wait to see the doctor after my assessment by the triage nurse. While I didn't mind the wait because of my situation , I couldn't help but noticed that individuals with more urgent medical needs were also waiting, and there didn't appear to be any immediate attention provided to them.nUpon speaking with the staff, they explained that they had only one doctor available, which was causing the extended wait times.nWhile I'm not an expert in these matters, I observed that other hospital departments seemed to have an excess of staff engaged in administrative tasks, chatting, and socializing, with minimal workloads.nIt struck me that reallocating resources / funds to where they are most needed departments could ensure that people receive timely care before emergencies escalate.
Went to the ER for a possible miscarriage and was there for 7 hours. Was taken to do blood work around hour 5 and then my name was called, I asked if I could grab my partner since I did not want to be alone, nurse said okay and was taken off the cue, waited a good 30 minutes in the triage office when I could overhear them giving away my room to a drunk person. I asked if I could be seen soon and if I was still in the cue since my name was called. They removed my name and I was told I was going to be seen right away, moved me to another waiting room where someone that was on hard drugs was dozing off they were seen right away and promptly taken to a room I also overheard the nurses talking saying that the drunk person they put before me refused treatment. waited another two hours and I told the nurse that I was leaving since I’ve been there 7 hours and was not being treated or at least roomed. As I was telling her this she was literally CHECKING HER NAILS and didn’t look me in the eye and said “k”. I was absolutely appalled at the lack of care and compassion and it seems like they prioritize people that are addicts and drunks that don’t want treatment rather than people that do. Next time I need care I’ll make the drive to taber or Raymond. This hospital is seriously a joke
The beginning of my visit to Chinooks ER was quite ordinary. Triage nurse and registration were friendly even though my “not from this province”. The last time I experienced Alberta health system I’ve forgotten all about…due to that it was my birth place Back to present day and the seasoned triage nurse who replaced the others. Around midnight an unusually busy according to earlier triage nurse ER room had died down. I thought I better check to see if they had forgotten me. Especially after two young girls and boyfriends who came in about 5 to 5 .5 hrs after I did While the first couple who was simply not feeling well left after being asked to exit room to see doctor I assume. The second couple was called at midnight. Which instigated my question to seasoned nurse. She looked tired with blood shot eyes staring at her computer screen. So I can’t really be angry with her short and minimal answer to “did you forget about me?” Zero malice within that question. No point wait for another 6/7 hours and I did need to find a hotel. Not sure what I expected when I told her I’m leaving but I got an “okay” and no further information. So now I’m lying in a hotel bed with my upper chest and to right shoulder in discomfort. My previous health history includes open heart surgery. So this was important to me EKG and blood work were given. No idea about blood work but EKG was good news provided by first triage nurse. If I was to rate this visit. I would give high scores for the first 45 mins then it slid down hill rapidly
20th of November My husband and I arrived in the morning. We were quickly accepted and everything necessary was done for him all tests and examinations. Surgery was done on the same day. The staff was very friendly, kind and patient Thank you to all the employees of those shifts who were with us, special thanks to the doctor Szobota.
