Hidden gem right next to Best Western. Food was delicious and fresh, not greasy. Son had sweet and sour chicken and breading was just right; crispy not doughy. Nice atmosphere. Friendly yet professional waiter. Only disappointment was that to-go menu had better specials than sit-in menu.

Just had food delivered and found hair in 2 of the take-out boxes. The hair was stuck inside to the sides and the bottom of the boxes. It was a lot of hair! When I called to have the food taken back and a refund the staff acted as if there was nothing wrong about it. I asked to speak with a manager and she acted the same way. I'm waiting for them to pick up the food now and at first they were not going to refund before coming to pick up the food. How would I get the receipt for the refund if they do it after? The staff customer service was also lacking. Will never eat there again!

Goodbye water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and baby corn. Hello zucchini??? We've been eating at China City in Oak Harbor since 2001. (It's in its third location since then.) Restaurant is nice, perhaps a bit dark. The background music has been a bit odd for a while. "Oh Danny boy" on the pan flute?? Food is good, portions are good, service is good. Prices are slightly above average IMHO and I miss the complimentary tea of years past. Now the bad news. On our last visit I ordered the "House sizzling platter", my go to dish for 16 years, and without notice in the menu, they had significantly changed the vegetables. Gone are the water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and baby corn. Replaced by a bunch of zucchini. :( NOT happy! I assume this is a cost cutting measure. If you are expecting what I consider some of the "standard" Chinese vegetables (for a "Chinese" restaurant in the U.S. anyway), you may want to ask before you order.

Good selection of Chinese food, relaxed atmosphere, and ample parking makes China City a great place for a lunch meeting, a date night or a group gathering.
