Cherry House Restaurant

What to do on a long weekend when you’re stuck at home…. Go out for a nice dinner! Heard good things about the Cherry house, advertised as casual “fine” dining, let’s try it! This restaurant is in the old Keg location, it’s nice without being over the top. Started off with the escargot appetizer, it was beautifully presented, with fresh mushrooms and sauce in a light phyllo pastry, delicious and enough to share. The basket full of sour dough bread kept us busy between courses, it was fantastic! This set us up with great expectations for dinner! Our server was pleasant, and offered the chef’s specials of the day, i went for one of those, the Australian swordfish on risotto and shrimp, my guest went for the regular menu salmon, and other a Caesar salad with chicken. All dishes were presented well, and were good, we did enjoy them….. But good is not enough when you are considered and charging “fine” dining prices. I felt my swordfish was bland, albeit the risotto was good as were the shrimp, my meal overall was not outstanding for $78 The salmon was cooked well, but again not perfect, just better than average, flavour profiles didn’t make make this dish amazing as it should be. Caesar salad with chicken….. what more can I tell you, can’t screw that up….. except with charging $40 Portions are large and we left full, food good but not fine dining amazing, this place didn’t wow me, but I will give it another chance because the menu is varied enough, I might find something that knocks my socks off!

Everything here was exceptional. The decor, atmosphere, service, drinks amaretto sour was fantastic and not shy on the liquor! and of course, the food. One of the best steaks I've ever had - it just melts in your mouth. Lots of great options on the menu, made it hard to choose what to get! They start you off with some warm bread & butter for the table and that was also fresh and delicious. Very spacious inside, good mix of tables and booths. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a fantastic fine dining experience.

Beyond excellent! We came here not knowing what to expect and we’re blown away at every level of service. We had the opportunity of meeting Michael, the owner of the restaurant who was a total gem to talk to. We were seated by the most wonderful hostess who gave us in my mind the best table in the restaurant! Our server was attentive, kind and always available when needed. And the food…oh my goodness the food was oh so decadent! Melt in your mouth meat, cooked to perfection with plating so beautifully done, cocktails that left you salivating for more and dessert that was like drops of heaven! The entire experience made this a night to remember!

This place is absolutely FANTASTIC! From the moment you walk in you are greeted so personally. The decor and ambiance are perfect for a romantic night out! The food is something you’ll still be talking about when you get home and having you craving again weeks later still. We ordered the grilled calamari to start and let me just say, it was the best grilled calamari I’ve ever enjoyed. He got the 20oz rib eye and I got the scallops, shrimp and lobster. THE PORTIONS ARE ENORMOUS! The shrimp were the size of my whole hand and the lobster was perfectly cooked and super tender. I don’t know what they put in that sauce that was on the seafood but it had me wanting to lick the whole plate clean! His steak was cooked medium-rare to perfection! The Au jus sauce that came with it was the best I’ve ever tried. He actually couldn’t even finish his steak that never happens and when we got it packed up we asked them to include extra sauce for it for at home. It was that amazing! This isn’t your typical fancy place with small plates. You need to prepare to eat if your planning on dining here. Get ready to unbutton your pants and bring a take out bag home. The wine list is huge and the wine cellar is fully stocked. This place will definitely be a staple in the Hamilton/Burlington surrounding area for YEARS to come. Every single one of the staff who spoke to us or served our table made us feel like family. The washrooms are super clean and tidy, and stocked with toiletries just encase you need to freshen up a bit. I will absolutely be a regular here. If you’re trying to decide on the keg or this place there is no competition. This place blew the keg out of the water as far as portions and taste. I refuse to get steak anywhere else now except for here.

My family and I recently ate at Cherry House. For myself and a few others it was our second time but for some it was their first. We were with our mother who is disabled and I have to say the staff were very accommodating. They quickly rearranged our seating and sat us right in front of their beautiful fireplace to prevent my mom from having to do stairs. We had the pleasure of having Cosmo and Rick as our servers and they were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. 2 of my children had the filet mignon and both thoroughly enjoyed it. I myself had the salmon this time and it was cooked to perfection. Others in our party enjoyed crab legs, mussels, escargot and Caesar salad. I must add that the cheesecake is by far the best I have ever had. It is extremely light and just melts in your mouth. I may or may not have bought a second piece to take home.I believe the prices were very fair for the portion size and quality of food. In closing the whole experience was perfect and we will cherish this memory forever

What a newly discovered gem!! Absolutely fantastic place with simply AMAZING food, drinks and atmosphere. The hostess at the entrance was very welcoming and friendly. Alex was our wonderful host for the night and the service was nothing short of excellent too; caring, genuinly friendly, patient and attentive. Completely unexpectedly he also generously treated us to a delicious cheesecake on him. While this was a random pick we thought to try out, we ended up leaving very glad that we came across it. We look forward to going back and will be recommending this great establishment to our friends and family. Kudos to the chef n' team & the service team who are doing a phenomenal job; thank you for the wonderful Thursday evening.

Normally I would review with Trip Advisor, but I would like to reach as many potential viewers as possible. I have said it before and I will say it again... Burlingtons best restaurant has had a change of guard. The old school places have been replaced. Cherry House with owner Michael Cherry has taken the lead in both food and service. Nothing in the Burlington area compares to what you will recieve at Cherry house. Old school service , top quality meat, and a decor worthy of a Michelin star... Burlington has a new place where the people in the who know want and need to be. No question... if your not here, you should be.

Wow! An amazing fine dining experience. This place is quite upscale. Everything is premium and quality and the price reflects that. Not a casual or cheap eatery at all. We had a reservation and were seated by the fire place. During the short walk to our table by the maitre-d fellah, we were shown the stocked bar and the glass walled wine room. Quite fancy. It was a quiet Monday evening and the only other patrons appeared to be two small groups of well off pensioners. The menus had a nice variety of choices but not so many that we were overwhelmed. There was also a separate steak menu that showed some premium cuts of meat such as Japanese Wagyu, Bison, and Tomahawk steak. They also have quite the selection of Wines and Booze. The special of the day was a Cajun swordfish. I was tempted to get it but I went with the 10oz Bison steak instead. The Mrs ordered Filet Mignon and we ordered the Escargot to start. We requested a red wine to go well with her steak and they let her sample a wine selection before they poured her a glass. She said it was really good. The Escargot arrived quickly and was extremely delicious. It was mixed with Ontario field mushrooms, and some sort of garlic sauce in a Filo pastry shell. Quite delicious. We also got a basket of fresh baked bread with butter. Also really scrumptious. Our mains arrived and didn't disappoint. Both of our steaks were heavenly and cooked to perfection. My Bison steak was so tender and juicy my mouth is watering now just from writing this review. After dinner we were given the dessert menu. The waiter asked us if we were celebrating anything and when we told him about the special day he sped off and returned with a slice of cheesecake on the house. Shortly afterwards the maitre d guy came over and offered us some sparkling wine on the house too. We were thankful but went with some coffees instead. Both the Cheesecake and the coffees were very good. We left with full bellies and big smiles. The staff were warm and friendly as we left and hoped we would return again....and I think we will. : I just have to save some money :P 10/10 would noms again.

Best Meal! My husband and I who love fine dining were blown away by the food, ambiance and the staff of Cherry house, truly one of the best kept secrets until now in the GTA! It was worth the drive from Durham region. Appetizers, main and dessert were truly second to none! We loved our fig and arugula salad and baked Brie, loved our lamb and sirloin mains and ended this incredible journey with delectable cheesecake and crème brûlée! To find ourselves enjoying every course is RARE and this is a rare find! Halal options available! Founder/chef Michael Cherry and staff were simply delightful! This is going to become a family favourite! Reserve your table, for any occasion.

First time here and hot damn, what an experience. Everything about this place from the second we entered the building until we left, was almost perfect. 1 minor blip with a drink order, but it was resolved in seconds lol We tried their Taste of Burlington menu and it was fabulous. All the food was done to perfection. Nothing too fancy or over the top, just brilliant food. We will definitely return to sample their main menu. I'm sure we will not be disappointed. Jesse sp? was on his game! Cheers
