Hubby and I were craving Indian food and visited Charminar for the first time. We're so happy we did as the food was fresh, tasty, and as spicy as we requested and expected it to be. The chef came around to meet and greet, which was nice as well. This location seemed to have very few servers which meant long wait times to be served/seen to however, the food was well worth the wait! I'd highly recommend the chilli fish - it was so flavourful. We'll definitely be back!
We have tried this restaurant before and had very good experience with the food always. Recently we decided to give it a quick try for dinner while we were in downtown Whitby. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. The ambience is awesome and you would feel good as soon as you enter. It's not very crowded at most of the times as people prefer takeout nowadays, mostly after Covid. So you would definitely get a place to sit with your family if you plan to dine in. We went it and checked the menu and sat for our order to be taken. The restaurant seemed to be more famous for takeouts as lot of people and food delivery apps kept coming for pickups. We were attended shortly by a lovely server with a smiling face who was patient enough to hear out and suggest dishes based on our requirements. We finally went with ordering Amravati Chicken and few butter naans. He was straight forward with the dish being spicy and we ended up making it medium spicy. Glad we did. The food was extremely good and we felt it had the same taste as we are used to in India. Quantity did justice to the price we paid for the dish. Naans were soft. We enjoyed the dinner to the fullest. We now have a favorite restaurant in Whitby and would love to try all the dishes at different occasions. They also have free parking available at the plaza. If you don't find one, I would recommend to wait for sometime as lot of cars are there just to pick up. They also have clean washrooms for your use. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone wanting to try Indian dishes and you will not be disappointed. Parking: There are few free spots in the plaza where you can park.
This place never disappoints. First time dine in. Place is clean and staffs are extremely helpful. We ordered Hydrabadi chicken biriyani,Avakkai Mutton biriyani. As usual Biriyanis were great. We went with Amaravathi Chicken curry defying the warnings of spiciness by our server..It was great but spiciness is extreme, regretted the decision after few bites. The portions of biriyani is large and could be shared between two people. Overall great tasting food and extremely good service.
Place was extremely clean and hygiene. Crew was very helpful, good restaurant vibe and has excellent veg biryani options. We tried paneer tikka biryani and was very tasteful. We had a take out so quantity of raita and salad was little less.
Loved the Indian food here. Everything was super tasty and made with a lot of hard work and love. I love the appetizer Guntur Chicken. Beware, it is very spicy. Most people will not be able to handle it. Karampodi Kodi Chicken is also really good. The Chili Naan and Onion Kulcha were mind blowing. So was the Lal Chicken. What a unique flavor. Almost a mix of Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala and Karahi Chicken. Make sense? Must try. Had the Gongura Mutton Biryani. Good flavor but a bit salty. My other recommends are their Kheema Biryani, Malai Kebab, Masala Lollipops and Tandoori Chicken. I didn’t particularly like the Veg Dum Biryani, Apollo Fish or Shahi Paneer a bit too sweet Overall, one of the best desi places you will find anywhere and that’s a big reason they are now at 7 locations. The service was also excellent and so was the ambience. They have lunch specials that range from $10-12 depending on which one you order. Looking forward to trying that.
I went their with my family for the 1st time.Here are the highlights: 1. Not much crowded and decent ambience. 2. The quality and quantity of the Biryani was amazing. 3. 2 small biryani's are sufficient for 3 people. 4. Pricing was affordable and easily beat any good restaurants. 2 small biryani's for 30CAD 5. Good seating arrangement. 6. Pretty customer service and food was delivered in 7-8 mins. I will visit again soon
Ordered the chicken curry, the butter chicken with the bread basket and egg fried rice. Everything tasted delicious. As long as you mentally prepare for the spice level, you should be okay. Will be back!
Amazing food... lovely staff... had ordered onion uttapam and chole bhature and never expected chole bhature to be so delicious at a south Indian restaurant but it surpassed all my expectations... uttapam was as usual super.... it was really nice of Chef Tejas to come and take feedback... and thank you so much for those gulab jamuns they were yumm... thank you so much guys... glad we thot of dine in instead of take out got to meet these amazing people....
We have ordered hot and sour soup, Gobi Manchurian, paneer tikka biryani, kadai paneer and naan from Charminar through Uber eats.Biryani and sabji was good but soup was horrible, it doesn’t taste like soup at all. Everyone is having cold and cough at my home so thought of having soup so feel good but didn’t expect this and gobi Manchurian was so soggy too. Wouldn’t recommend this two items
I generally don’t expect a lot when I eat out however the food here was mediocre. Ended up wasting the food. Giving 2 stars just because the staff was good.
