Caribbean Queen Jerk Weston/ Lawrence Wish I could give 0 stars because management and customer service is absolutely terrible. The cashier is very rude and has absolutely no experience in dealing with issues/complaints. I had an incident on June 27, 2022 and it has yet to be rectified. I found steel wool embedded in the rice and peas. It was stuck in the rice grain picture and video to prove. You call to discuss the issue and the cashier keep giving you the run around. Gave them multiple opportunities to deal with the complaint still no resolution. They have no business etiquette, after all they are not running a restaurant, they are operating a cook shop. Don’t waste your money and time eating there. It’s not worth it!!! PS: check your food before leaving the restaurant if you choose to eat there. FYI- Arlene is very pleasant and would have dealt with the issue at hand.
My first experiences with Caribbean Queen is very disappointing but there is a upside to it. Let's start with the flavor or taste that I ordered on there menu,First the jerk chicken had a nice taste to it but I wouldn't say it was authentic due to the fact that it didn't really gave that "zing" or "wow" feeling. However the fried chicken stand out more than the jerk, the batter and seasoning they use was good it wasn't salty or the spices wasn't overwhelming it really had a nice blend to it. The only down fall on the dish itself is the "mango habanero sauce" which is too sweet for my liking and not enough spice or kick to it. Overall Caribbean Queen has its potential but with a few minor tweaks on the food this place would be a hot spot. Reason being that the rating is low its because half cooked chicken. See vie pic
My experience at Caribbean Queen was okay. I ordered an oxtail dinner and jerk pork. The oxtail was great, 10/10. Wish there was a little more coleslaw though because it was amazing. The jerk pork was cold, dry, and very disappointing. The restaurant itself is nice and clean. Also, the lady who took my order was very friendly.
The food was delicious, the carrots and cabbage taste nice and sweet , well prepared. The oxtail was a mouth full, they give you lots of meat. The sauce was just right not to salty, the rice and peas was an okay portion
Fried chicken is really juicy. I highly recommend to ask for ox tail gravy, totally makes the rice so much better.
Been coming here since I was 13-14 and the food never ceases to amaze me on how good it was and how cheap you can get it for! The portion was great as a student as you get everything from meal and drink for about $5 and when you're a student growing up, that was a lot of money so to see them have that lunch special going on was a huge convenient for myself and many others. The food itself, rice and peas and jerk / fried chicken are to die for. Everything about it just works and the taste is worth it! If you're from the area and haven't tried it or from afar, I definitely recommend some good ol' Caribbean cuisine!
Food is always good and the price is great which equals best value for your money. Authentic drum-pan jerk in the summer which is exactly like its done in Jamaica! Delicious rum cake at almost half the price I pay in the East! You have to check this place out!!!
All in all it was good they don't do boneless curry chicken i got bone in curry i wasnt sure I would like it so I got the jerk pork too. Overpowering taste of coconut milk to much for me in curry. Absolutely delicious juicy meat full of flavor not spicy and there was no jerk sauce on rice.i will ask for it next time I go. Super friendly staff the Johnny cakes were perfect traditional Jamaican slaw. I genuinely like Jamaican food this will be the lunch spot when in the hood
I ordered 4 lunches for pick up. Upon calling, the lady was in such a hurry to get off the phone, kept asking if I am done… with terrible attitude. After giving her my order. Went to pick up, after trying to identify who answered the phone, no one would take responsibility. While waiting, the chef said they didn’t have the gravy I wanted. The person at the front obviously was the one who answered the phone..because she was so nonchalant with relaying the message. Her words were “oh well !” Then turned to me and said “there’s no curry gravy”. But with the attitude and body language I was given I was not pleased at all, I requested a refund and left. My pledge is that Caribbean Queen can never get my money again after years of support and buying food at least 3-4 times a week during my work lunch hour. Just that one experience left a bitter taste in my mouth. Customer service plays a major role in the longevity of any business. Even after years of service, things can go downhill at any point with the wrong staff as the face of the business.
Great take out spot for quick Carribean dishes, the jerk chicken was falling off the bone! And you can tell the chef loves what he's doing, location is always congested due to the construction on Finch but great food overall
