My husband and I both got new glasses recently and the customer service was outstanding! I highly recommend going to Capilano eye center for all your eye needs. We will definitely return and recommend them to everyone we know. Thank you for such a great and stress free experience, and a special thanks to Chris Johnson and the ladies out front and the optometrist for all their help and exceptional customer service! Thanks again The LaFrance family
Always have taken my daughter there since she was 6 and now she is 9 and the doctors are great and very funny and make my child fill comfortable
today we had an appointment with Diane to get my daughters 5yr old glasses ordered she was amazing! brought coloring books out and everything. fantastic service especially during a pandemic, we felt so safe and welcomed! Thank you for making the experience so great my daughter can't wait to get her new pair! We would recommend this place over and over again.
Dr. Russo and the team at Capilano Eye Centre really are the best - professional, pleasant and accommodating. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Russo’s for several years now. In addition to being highly professional he is very thorough and strives to work with me not only on my existing eye concerns but prevention for potential concerns based on my family history. I feel that we work together on my eye health which gets me the best vision possible. In addition to his professionalism he has a great sense of humour and a caring nature and all of that combined makes getting an eye exam a pleasant experience. The frontline team at the office is wonderful to deal with as well. Everyone I have encountered over the years has been pleasant, kind and accommodating. Even through the challenges of COVID everyone there made a stressful situation less so through their caring words and actions. If you are looking for an optometrist office where you will be made to feel like you matter I highly recommend Dr. Russo and the team at Capilano Eye Centre.
Highly recommend Dr Stan Russo. I always look forward to his cheerful, thorough appointments. He has been so helpful in guiding me to manage my chronically dry eyes. He is also very good with my son, who looks forward to his visits with Dr Russo. A great family optometrist!
I love this place. Incredibly helpful knowledgeable, kind and caring. Dr. Dos and his staff have been incredible to deal with. I feel well looked after by my eye Dr. Please don't ever retire! Mikka was lovely and looked after us so well. I could feel the smiles behind the masks. Felt safe every moment and I even got a treat for being a good girl. Of course I asked for a trip to the treasure chest....even though Im over 60! LOL The Best!!!
I received a new frame that were hurting me behind my ear. I had the privilege of being attended to by Nica Ajero, Dispenser. She was friendly, cheerful, hard working, providing excellent service, patient and above all wanted to make sure my problem was solved before I go away. I asked her many questions and patiently she brought my file, explained to me about my lenses and about the cost if I made new glasses. She figured out how much my insurance would pay if I made new glasses this year. My new glasses were made 15 months ago. She even gave me solution for cleaning my glasses as I was not given the solution when I picked up my original frame.
The 5 stars are for Dianne and Dr. Russo. One experience I will rate ONE star though. Came early one morning as my glasses lens popped out while cleaning them and I need my glasses to go to work. Good thing I had progressive sunglasses I could forego one day without my prescription ones. The girls saw me parked as I went there before going to work to drop off for repair and avoid wasting a lot of days for them to get fix. First greeting of these two ladies who came in at 8:25, duet,”we’re still closed’ Yeah, I parked there early just to hang out... Never even bothered me with a good morning, you’re early, is there a problem, can we help you, we’re still closed but , is it an emergency? Did you have an appointment? Just saying....
Dr. Everdeen was absolutely lovely; it feels like she really listens and cares about her patients. The place is busy, but the staff are attentive and friendly. The only complaint I have is when I called saying my prescription didn't have a PD, and they explained that the opticians usually measure it when you buy glasses with them. Fair. I said I was planning on purchasing some cheap fashion glasses online I have quality frames that I'm going to put expensive lenses in, the fashion glasses are just for special occasions and asked if there was any suggestions she had for measuring PD at home. She said she had no idea and didn't really provide any help. Luckily I was able to find a quick Google search on ways to measure PD on my own Lenscrafters had it on their website. I will probably return because of Dr. Everdeen, but I did feel uncomfortable when talking to the opticians about buying online.
I used to go to this office when I was child and Dr. Doz would take care of me so I felt comfortable and nostalgic going in. Dr. Russo was far from what I was expecting. I got lasik eye surgery not even a year ago. My appointment yesterday was an emergency medical appointment because my eyes were blurry, itching and I had a low grade headache from trying to focus through the blur. My eyes are prone to dryness. Because I was going in as a medical emergency this appointment if not needing prescription eye test should be covered under Alberta Health Services. I was pretty certain my prescription had not changed because I was seeing 20/20 when the blurriness would subside and this had only been happening for 2 days. Dr. Russo immediately started our appointment with how he wouldn’t be able to go beyond the medical exam without me paying $120 for a prescription exam. I was shocked that that was how it was starting because he hadn’t even looked at my eyes yet and was already pushing for the prescription exam. Let me be clear. I was not opposed to paying $120 if I needed glasses but I was expecting him to look at my eye health first before jumping right in there. He then tried to convince me that I most likely had an astigmatism because the prelim showed signs of that. Again I was shocked, like I said, I had just got lasik less than a year ago. If that were the case I had bigger things to deal with and I would take it up with where I got it done. THIS WAS ALL BEFORE HE EVEN LOOKED AT MY EYES. I requested he do the medical exam and if nothing was discovered in the medical exam I could make a decision from there. He agreed and almost immediately in the exam he saw how dry my eyes were. He finished the medical exam without having to do a prescription exam because my dry eyes were most likely the cause of all of this. He got me set up with my dry eye kit and I was feeling okay about the rest of the appointment. I felt like there was a remedy we took pictures of my eye to make sure my retinas were good my incisions from the surgery were good. I could have left happy and not even thought twice. Instead he starts to talk pulls me a side in a quiet tone and says “though you look good you should probably get blood work done with a medical practitioner.” I knew immediately he was saying this because of my weight. I responded “OH I have!” again shocked by his conduct. “Oh good cause diabetes. . .” and he trailed off. I am for sure a curvy woman and weight is lifelong battle but I do not go to an optometrist to get fat shamed. Those comments impacted me that Dr. Russo was upset, he wasn’t getting the $120 for my time there so he was being used solely as an optical medical professional and did not stay in his lane of profession and decided to pick on my weight. Skinny people get diabetes too, Dr. Russo, you can never actually tell what is going on in someone’s body. Your expertise is eyes and your first assumptions of mine were incorrect and your assumptions based on my weight were incorrect. As a medical professional please use quantifying data to come to your conclusions not pre-conceived, unfounded judgements. I will not be returning.
