This clinic pressured my friend into an extremely expensive $550 CASH and unnecessary ultrasound for an early abortion at 7 or 8 weeks along. Blood test already confirmed pregnancy, abortion is 100% the decision, why was the ultrasound done if there is 0 further information we want on the fetus? I have accompanied other friends during and prior to COVID, this has always been optional. They also asked my friend if she wants to know "if she has twins?" among other leading questions that was cruel and made the already difficult decision even harder. Only until the very end when my friend repeatedly confirm she wants to go thru with it did they finally provide her prescription and instructions. ------------------------------------ Edit following owner response: First, appreciate the break down on fees. I stand corrected as I learn it is not just for ultrasound. However not changing the rating due to the points below. Second, something felt off about the mandated ultrasound. I did a search for "ultrasounds needed for abortion in Canada" and found page after page of articles quoting Health Canada and research papers explaining that although useful, it is OPTIONAL in Canada. Only mandatory if the patient does not know their last period dates we knew the dates or suspicion for ectopic pregnancy not a doctor so I don't claim to know what would lead to suspicion here. Third, bringing up any unsolicited details on the fetus and trying to make it sound like a child at 7 weeks in is a manipulative pressure tactic, period. The previous doctors I've seen made a point to objectively confirm the patient's desire. No leading questions, no judgement. Once confirmed, the only thing discussed were prescription instructions and answering patient questions. If the concept of twins is life changing then the patient will ask themselves. Even if they forgot on the spot, they could've called back to discuss. NOT THE CLINIC'S PLACE TO BE BRINGING IT UP WHEN THE PATIENT ALREADY CONFIRMED INTENT. Where are you drawing the line between being sensitive and oversharing? If the clinic wants to be sensitive to all scenarios and insists on asking leading questions like these, the only time would be BEFORE IN PERSON VISITS. In-take forms or first phone call, so the patient is not feeling pressured when already at the procedure location. Something as simple as "Would there by any circumstances in which you might change your mind? - Yes/No." But then again, this is something other clinics already do, I don't know why your clinic insists on going into example scenarios, trying to scar the patient? Bringing this up for the first time while the most likely distressed patient is already in front of their ultrasound is tone deaf at best, disgusting pressure tactic at worst.
The receptionists were welcoming and friendly. The doctors and nurses made the procedure less scary and more comfortable by explaining everything that is going to happen. I would definitely recommend this place.
All good looks like new crew is doing a good job. Went there yesterday and she was happy with treatment and attitudes. The building is very old and interior design isn't modern but all is good.
I’ve been here in the past to get an iud put in and dealt with really friendly staff at the time. Recently I’ve called this place on two occasions and the receptionist on the phone is incredibly rude and not very helpful or considerate. I’m not sure if it’s a language barrier or lack of empathy but she’s horrible, especially for a women’s clinic, you need someone who is actually trying to help with a positive demeanour .
Avoid this clinic. These guys don’t know how apportionments work. They booked us for 10, told us to come at 9. We came at 9 and waited until 11:30, and they said it won’t be until another 2 hours. Avoid these guys and book with a proper place
Awesome clinic, my visit was great. Doctor and staff is very helpful, friendly and sympathetic. I recommend them 100%.
I had an abortion preformed here. I recommend an early morning appointment because there’s less people and I was in for a max of 2 hours and a half when I was told it would take around 4 hours. They offered to do std testing as well and offered to supply/ discuss contraceptives going forward. Before the procedure begins I was spoken to by the counsellor who informed me of anything and everything that was going to happen/ could happen, risks, timing, aftercare etc. I was referred to this clinic by a separate one in Mississauga due to how far along I was. Before the procedure you’re asked to change and then given an IV as well as blood pressure and vital signs looked at. During the procedure you’re told everything that is happening, about to happen, what you’ll feel and told to relax. There is a nurse there to help you relax and monitor you while the procedure takes place. There were two doctors and the one nurse in the room with me. All three were very kind and had light conversation just to ensure I wasn’t freaking out. As an all women’s clinic I’m glad I didn’t need to ask for a female doctor or anything of the sort. The environment was very welcoming and the aftercare nurses ensure the medication wears off before they allow you to leave. I’m so glad I came here and had the procedure done with such professionalism and care. I was afraid of the procedure and the risks but they make sure to take good care of you.
Dreams comes true and I came Canada from iran one month ago as a visitor, everything was great here for me but I couldn't eat well ,I didn't like smell of foods ..so I understood that I had an unexpected pregnancy,I wanted do abortion,I went to another clinic but they didn't accept to do it for me because of lots of fibrous that I have, and sended me to beby center ,they didn't accept me because I was visitor so they sended me to hospital and they told me we don't do abortion here, , finally with the help of social worker at hospital I came to Cabbagetown women's clinic,I had lots of stress and pressure these days ,but they were extremely great to me , thanks to Dr I felt so comfortable with her and nurse she did her best for me ,I highly recommend this Lovely place to everyone ,
