Since 2003, the Big Dipper Ice Cream Shop has been a favorite for all ages. Sheila McKinley started the business out of her house, with the ice cream being served out of the front door. The new owners Cliff & Franziska Wessely took over in August 2013 and are looking forward to serving people from all around the world! We accept Credit Card & Cash!

We waited 2 years to have an ice cream from this place as the first time we went in January 2020 it was closed for winter, then Covid hit so we waited and it was well worth the wait. Amazing ice cream served in a waffle cone and it took ages to eat, there was so much. Thank you we'll be back on our next trip from the UK
I’ve tried almost all of the flavors, all good. Also the milk shakes are fantastic.
Good place. Ice cream servers are good but sometimes there are one or two not that friendly. Overall this is a great place to enjoy a delicious ice cream. Flavors are amazing!!
Absolutely amazing! Very professional, very friendly, very accommodating staff. I really need to mention that there might be only 1or 2 people working at a time because it is a family operation, but they are ALWAYS top notch! They have what seems to be an endless list of flavours and I haven’t found one yet that wasn’t delicious. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
We LOVE this ice cream shop! The staff and owners are kind, professional, and care about their customers. We had a mixup with a gift card and they took care of everything without any problems. And the ice cream and milkshakes are delicious :
An almost endless variety of flavours for shakes and ice cream. Every bit worth the trip from Calgary or surrounding areas. Only been twice but it is my ambition tonsample all the flavours.
Very good homemade ice cream, many flavors to choose... Enjoy!
They have delicious ice cream and a tone of different flavours! It can get super busy and sometimes they run out by the end of the night but they also have awesome milkshakes so you can always get one of those!
The have great ice cream selections staff is awesome only complaint is the portions are quite small
Decided to have ice cream in Okotoks on our way home to Calgary. Big dipper was coming on top of the list in google maps list. Glad we visited them. They have a plenty of good flavors. Enjoyed their awesome ice cream and wonderful service. Will surely visit again!
