BIG BOAR SMOKERS Restaurant is a dream come true for owners Jerry and Donna Beyer. Inspired by Jerry's BIG BOAR SMOKERS mobil BBQ concession that travels Wisconsin's fairs and events during warm months vending southern style BBQ smoked to perfection by Jerry and his hard working staff. Jerry's Brisket, Ribs, and Pork Shoulder are Award Winning entrees!

BBQ was good. I had a half rack platter. The ribs were as expected. It came with two sides. Sides were Ok. Macaroni and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. I think if they put a little more effort into the sides they could be better. Although I have always had excellent food at the west Salem location I did not have the same at the downtown location.

One of my favorite restaurants is Big Boar we began eating here a year and a half ago back and I have loved it since the first bite! I always order the 1/2 chicken platter with their mashed potatoes and mac and cheese mmmm. There sauces are also very good. They vary from sweet to spicy/hot. The restaurant is always very clean and staff are helpful and polite. They just started delivery service and we ordered tonight. The food came within 30 minutes and was hot 10/10 from me!!

Simple traditional BBQ menu at an affordable price. The brisket burnt ends were fantastic! Cole slaw is a vinegar based slaw with peppers and no mayo, 2 thumbs up. Sauces are flavorful and the spicy has some kick but not to hot to hide the flavor of the food. Beans were just baked beans, nothing fancy, would be much better if they were a mixture of different types of beans with some of that famous pulled pork mixed in and smoked. $13.50 for a dinner platter and a beer is pretty reasonable.

Delicious food that's original in the Lax area. A little on the pricey side, but you do get what you pay for -great food!

Nothing impressive about this "BBQ joint" The people raving about the food may need a legit BBQ experience. Stopped for lunch and ordered a combo pork/brisket plate (coleslaw and mac'n'cheese sides and supposed texas toast) for take out. Price was incorrect on the menu and was charged from more than the menu price. Pork and brisket portions are tiny and come wrapped in tinfoil probably to hide the unappetizing brownish-gray color. Unwrapping the meat reveals protein that is hardly "BBQ". Pork is mushy with minimal amounts of smoke and no bark what so ever, brisket is uniform color with little to no smoke ring and dry grainy texture. Both meats resembled something that was cooked in a crock pot or pressure cooker rather than a BBQ pit. Sides? Coleslaw is surprisingly good, but won't resemble what a vast majority of people will recognize as "coleslaw", it's a livelier version with peppers in a vinegar base. Mac'n'cheese wouldn't be horrible if it had been warm anytime in the recent past. Served at room temperature or slightly below its more noodles with coagulated cheese. Take a hard pass on this one! The complete swing and miss comes when the staff forgets to finish the meal with texas toast and/or let you know they don't include any sauce with the meal. And you will want sauce to make the brownish-gray meat more edible!!! Don't confuse this branch with the West Salem location which serves excellent fresh BBQ. If you're stuck in the downtown area there are much better choices for lunch or dinner. The experience was bad enough that no 2nd chance will be given.
