First time Basil Box at the Brentwood Mall location, I was fairly impressed! I totally dig the Massaman Sauce, not as spicy as advertised but delicious and a perfect compliment to the Coconut Curry Tofu. The food was tasty and enjoyable, I feel like it was a pretty stingy portion for the price and would have expected more protein. Although it's a small menu, it's focused on delivering good flavor and seasoning, detailing and fining the core concepts to make an overall yummy tasting meal.
Amazing healthy Asian fast food! I absolutely love their food and the iced Thai milk tea that only cost $2 with your meal. The price is amazing, portions are just right, and food also taste great!
Finally got to eat at Basil Box, it's been discussed by me and my husband ever since it opened when we should try it. For $15 we got a drink, brownie/rice crackers/something, and 1 regular size basil box which usually is $12+. Drink we got is a Passionfruit Lychee Soda. It was really carbonate so that was unexpected. We thought it would be full on the taste of both fruits but it felt like it was infused with both. It was ok but since you would be drinking a lot out of this cup. we thought that the ice was unnecessary since it was a cold day and it would water down the drink already. but that preference is just subjective to each person. we still liked the drink since it met the expectations of what the beverage said it would be. Basil box, we ordered custom made. vegetarian and for pregnant person :D so most of what we needed actually was safe for me to consume. so we got rice, sweet potato, coconut curry tofu, tangy tamarind, crushed peanuts, and crispy shallots! we were delighted that they can also serve vegan/gluten free items. these items looked fresh also on the containers and they had their own tongs so no cross contamination happening between meat/veggies etc. it actually did taste good, for me. as a pregant woman on her 2nd trimester, im very picky and i could vomit what doesn't work. im glad we got tangy tamarind bec it was not invasive to my palette and it was still tasty. the server was kind enough to make sure to tell us that it's a bit sour and fruity, and told us we can choose all the toppings. i was so happy cz our combination worked! yes, i have tried myself to make other weird combinations on sauces and other food and this time it worked for me and my husband. Brownies, the server was also kind enough to point out that it's not gluten free, if i ever chose that one. i was very happy on hiw she handled herself in taking our order. she was very kind, ready to answer, reassuring of our doubts, and very PATIENT!!!! the brownies are GOOD BTW. and i have a sweet tooth for cchocolates sooo IT'S MOIST and full of CHOCOLATE CHUNK BITS! too bad i have to share with my husband hehe. The place was clean. but the only thing i was sad about it that it seems like the staff left some cleaning products on the benches area, probably to kill of a smell or something. But the bad thing about that is that we didn't like the smell. it smelled like chlorine in my pregnant head. this almost made my husband not want to buy anything. Thankfully the smell didn't linger near the washroom area. so that's where we chose to stay instead and faced the windows. not sure how to deal with that cz i heard also from other customers complaining about the smell and no room to sit in and left. only wish i have is that the portioning could do better for a $12+ bowl. freshii gives out more and makes me full all the time with their portions. this is probably 2/3 of what freshii dishes out. but with the $15+ deal i do think it's worth to eat here. i hope to eat here again! keep it up BasilBox!
Pretty good! I went in with high expectations because I really love Thai food, overall would totally try again, 3 stars because I would have loved a bit more sauce in the noodles or a bigger stuff to noodle ratio but overall it was decent. Chicken was really tasty just not as much as i would have liked, only a couple pieces. Cute place inside. Would love to try again and dine in with something else off the menu to try Edit : changed to 1 star because I went back, tried something else and exact same issues. Also found it weird the owner comments excuses on everyone's reviews to make excuses for the sub par food. Needs more stuff in the pad Thai and more sauce cause it was 90% plain rice noodles with no sauce or flavor. So disappointed because I really like the location / vibe of the restaurant.
First time at a Basil Box and loved it! Ordered 3 boxes to-go 2 build your box and a Tofu Pad Thai. Great flavours and we thought the portions were good for the price! I just wish there were some more sauce and veggie options especially less spicy sauce options for people who can't eat peanuts, which only leaves the tamarind, so hopefully they expand their offerings in the future! That being said, the proteins tasted good and everything went together well. Also had some of their refresher sodas which were crisp and fruity! Absolutely perfect for a warm day in the summer. It wasn't crowded, but the staff was patient and kind with our questions about the menu and ingredients. Will definitely be back!
I have ordered through Uber Eats. I have ordered Brown rice with Tofu and curry sauce. Flavours are good. PS: Thai Chillies are very hot. Skip it if you can’t handle spice. Overall good meal.
Aesthetic Southeast Asian Thai & Vietnamese inspired eats inside The Amazing Brentwood. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, which adds to the enjoyable atmosphere. Lots of healthy options available, with handcrafted drinks and sauces made in house. My order: Low Calorie Signature Box: salad base with coconut curry tofu very tasty, super seeds/peanuts, drizzled with a tangy tamarind sauce. I love firm tofu, as it adds a great texture. This box is less than 500 calories too. This was my favourite item out over everything. Passionfruit Lychee Soda was a bit light and mainly tasted like lychee couldn’t really taste the passionfruit. I’d recommend sticking the Thai Iced Tea. Thai Iced Tea: strong tea flavour, I really enjoyed this. Pad Thai Shrimp: pretty good flavours & portions, and I love the crushed peanuts on top. I’d recommend eating it fresh, and the noodles clump together easily once it gets cold.
Located on the ground level near the underground parkade entrance. Thai stir fry style fast food. The service excellent and presentation nice , but the food is average. Tastes okay, but nothing special. The drinks were also decent, but nothing special as well. Nice clean interior.
2 stars for the clean restaurant and friendly staff. Unfortunately the food tasted more like a reheated frozen dinner than a freshly made dish. I had the pad thai with chicken and it really did taste like an instant pad thai that I used to make. Wish the food had better flavor. I won't return but did appreciate a warm meal on a cold and rainy day.
This place is amazing. Their cup of Broth as a drink is soul filling when it's cold, and their new fry dishes are next level. That's also beyond their delicious Pad Thai. Highly recommend if you like sweet, or Asian food in general. Great winter date spot too. Vegetarian options: They have a vegan broth for thai soup that's vegetarian. My vegetarian gf loves it.
