Bar Laurel

The food here is delicious. The service outstanding. The layout...allows for good conversation while at the same time it is very alive and people who go there can enjoy a party like atmosphere. My second time there was just as enjoyable as my first. If you like lamb...the lamb dish there is melt in your mouth great! The sardines spectacular.

Excellent drinks. Cool vibe. Mostly cool staff minus one, who was very condescending, negative and yucky energy. He made snarky remarks to genuine questions and was just not very nice. He definitely wasn't hospitable. He was "too cool" to be nice.

We had high expectations for Bar Laurel despite a few friends telling us of less than good experiences. We should have heeded those warnings. The service was absolutely abysmal. We were at our table for almost 20 minutes before having anyone acknowledge we were there. Service didn’t improve as the meal progressed. We also noted that the table beside us had to get up and go find wait staff twice (to order food/drinks) while we were there because of such poor service. The food was overall mediocre and very overpriced. The two stars are for the decent drinks and couple of pretty good food items out of the several we had.

Top-notch customer service from Andrew and food to match. Tried out the venue for the first time tonight on the occasion of a birthday. We were intrigued by Andrew's offer to trust him with his tapas selections. We were pleasantly surprised. Every dish served was flavourful, beautifully presented, and easy to share. The menu doesn't do justice to the kitchen's creations, so make sure to ask staff for recommendations. The wine and beer selection was excellent. I was able to try wines before committing, even if buying by the glass. Found a nice Spanish white that complemented the dishes very well. If you have a sweet tooth and room for dessert, the cheesecake is a must. It's not what you expect but will exceed your standards. We will be coming back to enjoy more of Bar Laurel's creations, and hopefully continue to be pleasantly surprised by Andrew's curated experience. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

There isn't anything terribly wrong with this place, but the service is slow, and food is not inspired or flavorful. It seems like the effort here is in going to the bar and atmosphere, which are great. the food is an afterthought
