Very impressed! All these modern restaurants in Toronto are too focused on ambience while Chica exceeds in both. Nice ambience but a little loud. Not adequate for first date night. Go with your friends. Great service and food. All the food we had was great, starting from uni puff to steak. Glad I found this place. Would definitely go back.
My partner was so excited to show me Bar Chica and it did not disappoint. We went on a Sunday night so it was pretty quiet but I loved the atmosphere. The interior is beautiful, the service was phenomenal and the food.. to die for. I was beyond impressed and we will definitely be back! New favorite added to the list.Food: 5/5
Don't come here if you're hungry and on a tight budget because the tapas are too good to pass up and you'll likely give in and want to try everything on the menu. Our waitress knew the menu thoroughly and so we were so pleased with everything she suggested to our liking. The other waitpersons who passed by were always attentive and accommodating to us so we felt well looked after.
Trendy spot with a cool, sleek atmosphere, friendly staff and creative dishes. We enjoyed everything we ordered and the cocktails were well made. Would definitely come back to try more of the dishes.Food: 5/5
We had dinner and drinks at Chica and we absolutely loved the experience. All the dishes were so cute, the drinks were nice, and the vibe there was great. The octopus was probably the best we had this year. It was so perfect! Will definitely go back.
Super cute spit! We came on a Saturday night with a group of 8, and ordered most of the menu. Service was super quick and friendly, food was nice but a few things were oversalted. Ambience was lively. Would recommend coming with smaller groups.
This restaurant has great ambience for dinner or late night drinks. The service was impeccable and probably the best waitress I’ve had in Toronto. As for the food, everything was decent. The truffle croquette was definitely the star of the show and a must try.
Foie gras tart and croquetas were so delicious and definitely the highlights of the meal. Octopus was good but portion was really tiny considering the price and that half of the dish were potatoes. Service was great and was offered a dessert on the house for my birthday, which was also amazing.
Came for a light dinner and cocktails with a friend, we ordered: Vieiras Crudas Croquetas de Jamon Con Trufas Maíz y Sobrasada Chuletón Chocolate dessert special The absolute favorite was the trufas! Crispy outside, warm and soft centre with thinly shaved cheese on top! All portions are typical tapas size- small/bite size but still able to share with someone. The service from all 3 servers we spoke to was amazing, all very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations! Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu one day! The only thing I'd complain about is the lack of signage outside, the name Chica is literally 1 inch big on a black door.
If you’re looking for a great tapas resto in downtown Toronto, look no further than Chica. Located on Portland Ave. just off King St. this “little sister” to Patria opened in April, 2022 and has been rocking it ever since. Full disclosure, this was a special event dinner for someone who adores cocktails, and the reviews we checked out consistently mentioned their great cocktails. So yes, we chose a tapas resto because of their cocktails; fight us! But we were over-the-moon happy with the wonderful food we were treated to. The menu is organized in standard fashion: cold plates on one side, hot plates on the other. There are the standards e.g.: patatas bravos; warm olives; Iberico ham, but there are also many other choices that we’ve not seen on other tapas menus. A lot of thought has gone into these dishes, and they were executed to perfection for our dinner. We started with two outstanding cocktails: a Ronda Sour and a Mucho Gusto. The reviews were not wrong: did we mention that the cocktails were outstanding? So good! Our server more on the service later recommended three cold plates followed by three hot plates. We upped the ante and ordered a fourth hot plate because we couldn’t decide what not to have, and as it turned out that was the right quantity of food and allowed us to sample a reasonable portion of the menu. We also ordered a 1/2 litre of their 2014 Viña Valoria Reserva - a sinfully delicious Tempranillo - to accompany the meal. For our cold plates we enjoyed the warm olives, a cheese plate with hot pepper with an additional side of their outstanding toasted bread with tomato butter - trust us, get this bread!, and a plate of the Iberico ham because special dinner!. Everything was delicious, and set the stage perfectly for the hot plates to come. Our three hot plates were all outstanding. The Croquetas Jason con Trufa were perhaps the best croquettes we’ve ever enjoyed. The Maíz y Sobrasada smoked corn, corn foam, scallion oil was a revelation get this dish!. The Patatas Bravas prepared with black garlic and quail egg were unique and delightful. And the Filete de Carne Ontario hanger steak; pickled shallot; pepper bernaise; blistered shishitos was a flavour bonanza cooked to medium rare, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. We ended the meal with two Portland cocktails - a perfect conclusion to an outstanding meal and fun evening. On that note, Chica has a great vibe. The staff are genuinely friendly and very good at what they do, and the space is clearly set up for people to enjoy both a lingering dinner or a quick pop-in for a couple of yummy plates and drinks. Dinner and drinks all in came to $380. While that’s not a regular occurrence in our world this was a special dinner and worth every penny. We’ll definitely be back likely for the aforementioned drinks and one or two plates visit, and highly recommend Chica.
