It's 4 star considering what's available in the international terminal. The coconut chicken is on the sweeter side. You can tell these are frozen chicken, but still enjoyable. As for the fried rice, it tastes more like flavored brown rice.
I chose a steak and fried rice bowl and it was delicious! I love how the beef was super soft and how the fried rice had a lot of variety of mini vegetables like onions, green peppers, spring onions, and sliced carrots and it was really tasty after mixing it with the steak gravy. The total was $13.55 after tax. The ladies were super helpful and nice too, answering all my questions before I made a choice and making comfortable small talk with a smile at the checkout.
This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a restaurant review. Banh Shop does not actually sell the items listed on its menu. Instead it has troughs of unevenly cooked curries. At the till, these cost more than the posted prices. Basically a microwavable TV dinner but $19 and smaller. You would be better off buying airplane food.
Bahn Shop is a reasonable option in the international area of Terminal 1 at Pearson Airport. The food choices are decent as far as the airport food goes. Salad, sandwich, bowl options are available. You can pick your own options for the bowl although the number of choices is smaller than at a similar place in the city. Interestingly, this place has vegan and sea options so your friend piscovegitarian may be happy. I would definitely consider Bahn Shop on my future visits to Pearson Airport.
Excellent value and absolutely delicious. Had the shrimp and rice bowl. Lots of flavour and loads of veggies that were fresh. Highly recimmend
Stopped in for a quick meal just before boarding our flight to Narita Japan. Both myself and my brother got food poisoning from eating here on February 8, 2023. Within 2 hours of takeoff my brother and I were both self-quarantined in the plane's bathrooms for most of the 13-hour flight to Japan. This ruined the first 72-hours of our vacation while we let the food poisoning run its course. DO NOT EAT HERE!
The steak sandwich was excellent, much better than I expected for airport food. Cheaper than most places in YYZ as well. Will definitely go back if I fly through here again. Interested in trying more of their food if the sandwich was this good.
I know not to be too picky when eating at the airport. I expect maybe food court level and I'm happy. But Banh Shop is possibly the worst food I've ever paid money for. Did a demented child take over the kitchen? Soy sauce on soggy noodles is not remotely pad Thai. A banh mi shop that doesn't stock bread during dinner hours. How does this place stay on business? Zero stars.
Got the pad Thai bowl with chicken. Basically soggy noodles with soy sauce. Don't do it.Food: 1/5
I would give it 0 stars if I could. I had a tuna panini about 4 weeks ago, I’m not allergic to tuna… that panini sent me into anaphylaxis and I almost died in terminal 1 infront of my son, needed to be taken away in an ambulance. I called the shop to ask what was in the ‘tuna’ mixture… and they said they stopped making it. Thank god… but I need to know what was in it so I can get allergy tested. And they were no help at all.
