There is a giant round table that can fit like 40+ people! The chinese food is awesome quality. Juicy and tender meats and rich soup and flavorful noodles. First time trying some for my family and I am impressed. I hear this is a new building so the restaurant just opened. The staff is friendly and always around if I needed more hot water or change of plates.
So yes, all the other reviews are true 1 Food here is EXPENSIVE 2 food is not particularly special for the price 3 if you want to feel like you've booked the entire restaurant - eat here 4 food is salty and 5 there is the biggest round table I've ever seen in my life that fits like 30ppl around the table. We paid $170 for 4ppl for dinner - we only ordered 4 dishes. Dessert was free.
All in all, we enjoyed our dinner. Service was attentive and the taste factor was a 4 out of 5. We ordered a dish that resembled hakkan? style meat balls, which lacked a bit in taste. I will attach pictures of what we ate. Upon seating we were surprised with a cup of fruit and at the end a brand new pot of tea different tea too!. Will definitely go back to try their dim sum service.
UPDATE: restaurant is now closed down and reopened by new owners as Neptune. A high end restaurant conviently located in a middle class neighbourhood, on the second floor. As expected the prices are at the end of the spectrum while food is not significantly any different than many other mainstream popular restaurants with the exception of some dishes. Service is above average, yet lacking for the price range and clientelle they wish to maintain. The restaurant is modern and decorated elegantly. There is an extra large round table in the main dining room that seats about 40. In addition there are individual dining rooms, which feature TVs, and your own private washroom. Paid underground parking is reimbursed for only an hour at lunch ie: $2. Located at Marine Station Skytrain. Getting to their entrance is a bit akward and difficult to find. #letsguide
Ok food for expensive prices. We were seated in the middle section of restaurant outside the room with the big round table other reviewer mentioned. Not great Atmosphere in this section. When leaving, saw another section that might have been better to sit in behind the hostess podium. Most dim sum were above average pricing with my steamed dumplings with truffle 3/order maxing my bill at $14 I didn't notice the price when I ordered it and it just tasted ok. I did like the fried taro cakes and the taste of the beef noodle dish. I say beef noodle dish because normally this should be beef noodle roll sometimes referred to as cannelloni but their version seemed all broken up and sloppy. Overall, not terrible. For the price, this won't be my first choice. I would come if others wanted to go though.
Food: Uneven salting/flavouring. Some of the dishes taste bland and then some taste over powering. The durian dessert had a very hard stiff wrapping. First time I've encountered that. The tea is lackluster. My chopstick was dirty but forgivable. Honestly everything I just mentioned is not deal breaker for me. The deal breaker? We were shown a table in an unfinished room with on going construction! Group of people moving TVs around, using electric drills, ladders, shouting directions...... Literally a joke. The room we're in is just a joke. The worse part? The rooms without on going construction are basically empty. Not even a weekday. I'm here on a Saturday with my parents. The waitresses were nice though.
Comfortable seating and nice decor. However high prices do not reflect quality of food.
Past reviews made me skeptical about this place, but I suppose... a few things have changed...? This review might be a bit on the petty side. 1 As it's my first time eating here, and considering the previous feedback, it seems to be less of a ghost town on a Sunday around 1 PM. 2 The interior design is nice, but when you dum it down, I could see why others say that this place is trying too hard. You don't really get a sense of liveliness when you eat here, compared to other dim sum restaurants, and not only that, but personally, having two pairs of chopsticks is being too extra... One for eating, one for serving. Why would you want more to wash? 3 You may get a few odd smells, like cigarettes and washrooms... Won't last long, at least, and they're not that strong, but I had to note that since my father and I have asthma. 4 The quality of the food, I agree, is completely average. The prices baffled me. For the one who mentioned the house special fried rice, guess what? It's now up to $68. Too expensive for a dim sum. We ordered about 8 items, and it was about close to $100. To sum it up, it's really decent, but I wouldn't come back. At least no one was rude and there were no mixups with our orders.
Came here for dim sum with 3 others. We automatically noticed some specialty items that were at $13-$24 and the average dish was $6-8. The presentation was good, the quality was average, and so was the service. Each person got 2 chopsticks, one to be used to grab food and one for eating. There is a large table in the restaurant that can seat 25 or more which was interesting. Overall, I felt that even with the extra presentation and service, it is still expensive for dim sum considering the quality of food is just a bit better than average. The two stand out dishes for me is their Liu Sha Bao and Deep fried Taro with Scallop.
Expensive. Probably the most expensive dim sum around town. The quality is average, with some decent presentation. $17 for some X.O. pan fried rice rolls. The decoration and style of this restaurant are also very tasteless. They have this huge boardroom style room.. that reminds me of a communist party's meeting room. However, service is good and quick, unlike most other dimsum places. Servers are prompt and polite. But, seriously, just a really oddly decorated and expensive restaurant.
