May 2023 note: there was recently a fire in the kitchen due to some faulty wiring. They're currently closed while they figure out insurance, etc Small takeout place that adds a nice charm to East Chinatown. Sticky rice is really good can buy frozen or ready-to-eat. I especially like the thousand layer cake and their fried dumpling. They also supply their dim sum to Supreme Taste on Broadview. The ladies there don't really speak English but they're super friendly and will point you to the freshest items of the day.
Amazing, delicious. Very friendly staff/owners. Much better than the ones you get at grocery stores. Always something freshly cooked that they sell on the side. We keep many of these bamboo leaf rice balls in the fridge at all times. Will go back every two-three weeks to restock the freezer
As a northern Chinese, this is the first time I have ever tried the thousand layer cake and the glutenous rice dessert. Both are very tasty. And the ladies working here are really nice. I will definitely come back to try more food
Wonderful Experience! It brought memories back for my mom, she tells me how sesame balls reminded her when her great grandma used to make for her when she was little. This is the only place that brought long forgotten memories back for her. The rice was fresh, soft, moist and smooth delicious compare to other places I tried. Coconuts dessert was very good! Will come here again!
May 2021 considering price to size, quality and taste, this place deserves 5 for its Chinese style glutenous rice bamboo leaves wrapped dumplings. You'd never know from the outside.. and certainly the storefront could use an uplift, but it's the food that counts. Tried the green bean, scallop and peanut versions and each were really really good. Not too salty and good meat to rice ratio. For under three dollars including taxes at time of writing this place also makes it into my cheap eats list. These are frozen and do need to be reheated by either steaming it or microwaving it.
Delicious, great value, but high demand! Skunk vine dumplings were ordered/reserved heavily in advance around this time but the ladies were kind enough to give me what they could spare. Love the friendly Taishanese chat and their hard, honest work. Would love to visit again!
Love the family-run small business. Very traditional and authentic bamboo rice wraps and sweets! You HAVE TO try their Thousands Layer Cake if you are craving for something glutinous and coconut flavored. Prices are reasonable. I will def go back again and again!!
Not much English but very friendly staff severing delicious food. I especially like the bbq pork bun, black sesame pastry baked, and the various sticky items seafood shrimp dumpling, black triangle filled with nuts/seeds, orange round. Haven't tried the famous desserts yet since they sell out.Food: 5/5
Small shop run by adorable two ladies making old school Chinese eats. Their Zongzi is very good - not too salty, lots of green beans in the version we like to get Zongzi - glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in some type of leaf.
The owner of the store was so patient and friendly. I was craving for zongzi so I got a few and some wontons. Worth every penny! I really like how all of them are not overly salty.
