The Aurora Go Train is one of the old train stations in Ontario that is over 100 years old . This classical style wood built station is one of a few in southern Ontario . This was the first time I went inside the building. The old photos on the wall give you the history of the station . Passenger better check the train schedule on line before you go to the station . The box office only opens for a few hours , all selling tickets are by the machines. Before the pandemic, the parking lots were always full at around 8 am. Now, the situation should be better. The staff at the station is very helpful. A great experience in taking the Go train from Aurora to Union Station.
This might surprise some people, but I actually prefer the Aurora GO Station over Union Station—and here’s why. The Aurora station has a much safer and calmer atmosphere. It’s clean, well-maintained, and there are plenty of benches for passengers to sit and wait comfortably.nWhen I last visited, there was some construction happening as we were preparing for a school trip to the Royal Ontario Museum. Despite that, the station still looked great. I really like the building’s design—it has a charming, old-fashioned look that reminds me of a classic, retro-style train station.nOne thing I especially appreciate is that the train horns are still in use here. It might seem like a small detail, but it’s actually very important for safety. The horns ensure that people stay alert, especially near the tracks, and help prevent accidents.nOverall, Aurora GO Station is a clean, safe, and welcoming place to travel through. It might not be as big or busy as Union Station, but that’s part of what makes it such a pleasant experience.
Saturday, July 19th the 12:55 train was canceled but on information at the station or online. Bought 2 tickets by mistake. Two ladies at the station did not help with the ticket refund. Had to call Go and wait for more than an hour but couldn't get my money back for the service unused.
Really, just reiterating what's already been said about the parking.nnWhen we moved to Aurora less than 5 years ago, one of our deciding factors in choosing a location was the proximity to the train station. At that time, all 5 levels were available and the train was rush hour only. There was some minimal trouble finding parking for the very last train in the morning, but otherwise it wasn't an issue.nnGO has now extended train service to Aurora, which is wonderful. More trains, available all day and weekends, rather than just the rush hour service. This would be very convenient, except that concurrently to this, they've restricted the parking to a single level and very minimal outdoor parking. I arrive at 6 am and the outdoor parking is full, with just over 100 spots remaining indoors. The remaining spots are filled well before 7 am.nnIn a nutshell: added a day's worth of trains, but have made it nearly impossible for people to access them.nnThis is ridiculous.
If you do not arrive before 7am Monday-Friday you will not get a spot to park. The parking garage states that spots are available but there aren’t. So much reserved parking, it’s insane. If you will not commit to a minimum of 6 months, you will not be able to reserve a spot.nThis has to change. With Aurora growing, GO transit needs to realize they need more parking spots. So many people are illegally parked, because there’s nothing else one can do. Transit is supposed to be the way of the future. Ample parking needs to be the foundation.
