Ammas Biryani

Very local feel. Best for take-out. Tried the chicken biryani - a beautifully colourful and flavourful dish. The spices mix tastefully together and strike a nice balance. A bit spicy but nothing excessive. Definitely recommend!

Good Biriyani & love their chicken curry as well. It’s take out order & they have one table for people if they want to eat there. This place is hidden inside a grocery shopping place. Took me a while but best find. Price is very reasonable.

I was pleasantly surprised about this little hole in the wall. The taste was excellent. My daughter and I shared a box of goat biryani. My daughter said she wasn't hungry and only have one spoonful...she ended up eating one quarter of the box. It was nicely spicy. I would definitely go back. The raita was very good too. Only sad part was not many items on the menu. But I look forward to trying them...yummy!!!!

I saw great google reviews of Amma's Biryani and thought I would try it. I was a little unsure where the restaurant was exactly, but I did figure it out. It is tucked away in the back of the Silk Roads Foods Grocer store. I have to say this little adventure was worth it. To me, Amma's biryani makes the best tasting Binyani rice in Ottawa. The food is fresh, with lots of spices that make for a great meal. The raita with mint added great flavor too. They also sell non biryani food like chicken curry, which was good. The food prices are reasonable and they sell festive family platters, even though it is not posted on the wall menu. Amma's offers online food delivery services, which can be a great option. The Silk Roads Foods Grocer store that hosts Amma's Biryani restaurant is an interesting store that deserves to be a place to shop at as well. It carries lots of hard to find middle eastern food and fresh spices. Maybe you would like it too. If you like my reviews, videos, or photos just hit the like button while you are on the silk road.

Tucked in the back of a grocery store, I picked up some chicken biryani for take out. Very flavorful, and raita adds a delicious extra freshness. Delightful

Tasted this biryani when we visited Ottawa. It’s really great. I loved this biryani. The price is really great. It’s very reasonable. For biryanis I would recommend this place only. All other places are very expensive and not tasty. If you want to taste the best biryani you should try here. If they keep the quality and taste like the same as now they will have more orders. Only thing I expected from this place is keep more food. Because by 8pm they are out of all biryanis. I order chicken biryani it’s really great. That’s the last one . I have asked for one chicken biryani but they are out of food. They are out of all other biryanis also. Thanks

Awesome service and food hidden in a grocery store. Reminds me of Biryani I used to get as a kid growing up in Toronto. Only $7.99 for this veg Biryani walk-in special! Glad they make their vegan option clear. Will definitely come again :

Gem of a place. Delicious food. Tender delicious meat. Food is on the spicier side but not too hot also the raita helps a lot if your spice tolerance is low. Been here twice. Got food for someone else too and everyone loved it. Very cheap with huge portions too. Update: Been there over 20-25 times over the course of 6 months. Never been disappointed. The taste was very consistent and the staff is so sweet and friendly Update 2: it’s been almost a year and I’ve gone there almost every week sometime twice a week and the quality is very consistent. Each box is atleast 2-3 portions. The owner is super sweet and knows all his regulars. I will personally fight anyone leaving a 1 star review.

Had ordered veg biryani. The taste was okay. It had food colors being added. Wasn't expecting that.

We just discovered this place a few weeks ago and they have the best authentic Biryani in Ottawa! Also tried their Chicken Curry and Kheer dessert which was as good as the biryani. Absolutely loved it and we now have a new favourite.
