AmericInn Lodge & Suites Mitchell

I am rating this hotel 4.0, but I am being charitable. I really want to rate 3.5. We stayed here for five nights over the summer. No elevator and again we are put on the second floor in spite of getting AARP rates. Front desk service was good. Breakfast service was good, but the food was just average. Cleaning was average. Room has a microwave and refrigerator. Room was quiet. We slept good. The room has a jacuzzi tub. Good news. The bad news is that when the people in the room adjacent to us filled the hot tub you could hear it through the walls. I can only assume they could also hear when we filled our tub. On site laundry room, but it is not very clean. On the other hand, the hotel is only about a half mile from the interstate. And there are a good selection of restaurants within a half mile of the hotel.

The hot breakfast was good with plenty of your normal hotel breakfast options. Room comfortably fit a small roll-away. Bed were just OK. Hotel does need updating and pool deck hurts your bare feet---it's all tiny rocks and lots of them are loose on the surface so lots of picking rocks off your feet. Also heavy chlorine smell but pool is nice sized. Room smelled musty (we opened window on 98* day just to attempt an air out.) Carpets in room 113 were damp. Currently lots of construction in the area, which isn't ideal, but also isn't hotel's fault. Refreshing pitcher of ice water waiting for guests at the desk. Pleasant enough staff. Overpriced for how dated hotel appears--inside and out.

Quiet, comfortable and convenient! What more can you ask for in a hotel? AmericInn in Mitchell is all of these things. Easy access off the highway. Walking distance to several eating establishments. Clean, comfortable and quiet rooms will guarantee that I'll be staying here anytime I am near Mitchell

The staff checking us in told me twice what the price would be AFTER tax, it ended up being a lot more. That was the deciding factor in staying there and we ended up very disappointed in that. We stayed at another AmericInn in Bismarck ND on our 8 day trip, so we thought we'd expect the same positive experience. We were wrong. The staff wasn't as friendly, the lobby wasn't as nice, nor was the breakfast or pool. We'd expect the same hotel chain to hold itself to similar standards, sadly we were disappointed. For some reason the hotels in the area were really pricey compared to others on our trip, and it wasn't worth it. It wasn't terrible I guess, but it definitely wasn't exceptional either. We had a mediocre time overall. To the reviewer who mentioned ticks, they don't live in hotels so you should probably be ashamed for blaming the hotel for that...what were you doing the day before you arrived? The smell issue some other reviewers mentioned was sadly corrected by placing overwhelming air freshener plugins in every room; which we immediately unplugged. However, there were no bad smells to speak of. Don't get me wrong, we had a nice stay but in comparison to the other hotels we stayed at during our trip, this one didn't anywhere near meet my expectations, especially after the girl told me (with confidence and more than once) the wrong price and they did nothing about it! Do stay here but with low expectations!

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and inviting, and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended!
