Nice atmosphere and environment to train and/or learn olympic weightlifting for all levels. Paul, the coach and owner, is approachable, knowledgeable and experienced -- you'll be in good hands with him as a coach.
Heard about this gym from the coaching team at Crossfit YKV upstairs. Just started the Foundations program and loving it so far! The head coach Paul is extremely knowledgeable and patient. 646's equipment is top notch and the location is super convenient. Can't recommend it enough!
Had the pleasure of meeting Tom Meg and Rae at 3Bros CrossFit. Great bunch of people, very welcoming and great coaches. I have come away feeling more comfortable around the bar and can’t wait to get back into the gym to do it all over again
Great gym with great coaching. The space itself is well organized and clean. The coaches are friendly, informative and ready to help you succeed. The members are welcoming and warm too. Great equipment to use and to progress in your weightlifting journey. The variety of classes and scheduling helps you focus on both strength and conditioning. I would highly recommend this gym for weightlifting and beyond!
This gym is fantastic! I have belonged to several expensive “executive” gyms downtown and this is a completely different and much better experience for several reasons. 1Olympic lifting and powerlifting are technical exercises and the programs and people are exceptionally thoughtful in their approach. This is not a “bro gym”. 2building off the previous point, joint mobility and effective movement is at the forefront of the workouts and I have a much more holistic approach to my training than I have ever had before 3 the gym is very personal and the staff and other members were extremely welcoming and happy to help me learn. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who is interested in strength training, regardless if you are new to weightlifting, male or female, old or young. Do yourself a favour and call Paul coach and owner to come check it out!
Discovered this gem when last time I was in Toronto and I've been going back every time I'm in town. Coaching staff is very knowledgable and accommodating for drop in athletes and members are very friendly. 646 is a well equipped facility with a great atmosphere. Great place to get your workout in if your visiting Toronto. If you live in Toronto, this is a great group to train with to develop your strength and technique. Bonus, great weightlifting apparel and the best lifting straps available on site
Such a great place to lift. There's a great vibe when lifting in this gym. The coaching is top notch and the equipment is great. Having a dedicated weightlifting gym close to downtown, as well as a great team to train with is amazing. Great gym with a great atmosphere!!
Paul is an excellent coach, I have some experience but within a couple sessions he was able to clean up my technique quickly and found a ton of value in his programming especially for the cost. As a coach in athletics I highly recommend Paul as a coach due to his knowledge, experience, and atmosphere he provides in his gym
The equipment and facilities are high quality. It's actually really nice to be able to train with Eleiko bars and plates. It is also nice that they play old weightlifting videos on their T.V as you train. The only issue I had were open gym hours and the staff. It is definitely not worth your money to sign up for only gym hours which have a small time period for you to workout. The owner is not the warmest person to be around and doesn't seem to take much ownership with the gym. Even when signing up I didnt feel very welcome, no tour, no going over rules. I felt like more of a burden maybe because I was training on another team. If there is a problem with coming in outside of open gym hours the owner won't say anything and later will say that you took advantage over him behind your back. The 646 weightlifting team definitely gets priority and is a very big team with around 12+ members. It is definitely better to spend the extra money and train with their team. It is just a shame that a gym with high quality equipment can have a negative atmosphere for open gym.
Probably the best weightlifting gym you will find in Toronto. A lot of platforms, new eleiko and rogue bars, and even a cable machine for that accessory work. Flexible class and open gym hours. Programming is great, I put on 5 kilos on my squat and clean and jerk in a few weeks. A lot of experienced lifters go there too so you will get tips and pointers all the time.
