Story

We are an eatery; offering fresh, homemade meals and baked goods in the heart of Hamilton. We are committed to providing food that is affordable, nutritious and family-friendly.

We are a place of exchange; where ideas are shared and where people can engage with one another. We are beginning to use our space to facilitate community initiatives such as a homework club, a trainee program and arts programming.

This is a place that definitely requires a visit. 1. Food: Love and care is placed into every meal. There are Vegan and Gluten free options. Dishes range from pulled pork to chilli to pancakes. There is a lovely selection of in house baked goods. 2. Customer Service: Everyone is very friendly and helpful 3. Button Program: Typically if you go to a restaurant and have a great meal that’s enough... there is a special program here which is making quite the local impact. For those who face tougher times, you can indulge in a free meal. There is a jar of buttons at the front which acts as loonies. Those who need some extra help purchasing can simply use buttons and purchase a meal.

Always delightful, with quick and friendly service. I adore their pulled pork. A bit pricey for what it is (sandwich alone was $7), but the Americanos are top shelf. Whenever I'm there, I always contribute to their button jar to allow someone a lunch. Fills my tummy and my heart going there!

Great cafe!! The food and coffee here are excellent. The staff are warm - I always feel welcome when I come here! The prices are low, which gives you the opportunity to pay kindness forward by donating to a jar that helps those who can’t afford a meal enjoy one! Love the heart of this place

Tried this place with some girl friends last week and loved it! Food was served fast and hot. I really like that they also have non-dairy creamer for coffee (most restaurants don't). I also like that customers can purchase buttons for $1 each and those buttons can be used by people who are short on cash or just need a hot drink or a bite to eat. A great way to give back to the community. There's also a public parking lot right across the street and it only cost me $0.75 to park while I ate. I'll definitely be back!!!

My favourite place to eat, 541 Eatery & Exchange. With volunteer staff so friendly, in an atmosphere where anyone and everyone are welcome..with unbelievably delicious healthy food..its a place for one and all...If your coming for a meal, or just a snack, the flavours bursting in their foods, with the healthiest ingredients. Including delicious foods for vegetarians & vegans..This is REAL FOOD, in a restaurant that has an amazing uniqueness. The "Button Program", you can buy a button or two, that helps out by giving a person/patron with no money, an opportunity to trade the buttons for free food/drinks. Allowing someone to "pass the buck", to someone less fortunate. What a great concept. It's an experience you must experience for yourself. You TOO, will feel the love.
