We signed up my kid to the YMCA swimming classes and we decided to cancel the membership due to the terrible teacher and poor customer service.nnDay 1: The instructor showed up 10 minutes later, checked attendance and asked kids to get into the pool. The instructor was chatting for 5 more minutes with the kids, asked them to do a couple of exercises and class ended early. Balance: less than 10 minutes of actual class.nnDay 2: 15 minutes passed until a different instructor showed up. Instructor took attendance, kids got into the pool, one exercise and class finished early.nnDay 3: Instructor showed up 10 minutes later, 1 exercise, and then instructor asked kids to move to another pool saying: we have some minutes but class is done for today feel free to do whatever you want.nnDay 4: We decided to stop attending this joke.nnI tried to talk to someone from Aquatics and see if there was a chance to move my kid to another class, but after calling them 3 days more than 3 times/day, leaving messages and nobody calling back, I decided to just cancel my kid's membership.nnThe YMCA charges you around 20 bucks every 2 weeks and you could think it is a good deal for the membership and swimming classes but this was actually a rip off, you will pay 40 bucks/month but your kid will get less than 30 minutes of real quality swimming lessons per month.
i bought a pass for the week during my business trip and i have to tell you that i'm really surprised and happy to have taken advantage of this YMCA as soon as it was set up. the equipment is in great condition and there's everything you need at the gym. it's not crowded in the morning and the people are really nice. for $35 which is really cheap i really enjoyed and appreciated the experience. i highly recommend this YMCA if you're in moncton and i'll be back for more on my next visit in december!
I swim laps every week. I really appreciate the facilities, but it can be, at times, hard to focus while swimming. The lap swim times are used like public swims. At times, there are people/kids cutting across lanes.nnLife guards are generally good at addressing these issues. i believe it's a YMCA culture thing. I learned to navigate that and not to sweat the small things.nnMy opportunity to use the gym is 7:30-8:30pm. It is loaded with teenagers/groups and hard to find available machines. Other times I went were very pleasant and less busy.nnMy issues are also my joys. Im glad to see a very kid inclusive environment. Kids should be exposed to a active lifestyle. YMCA should keep doing what they are doing!
Weight room equipment is pretty okay. A lot of group classes done in the gym that could be done in the spin room or studio though...
Staff are always so helpful and informative, the cafe is so well priced with really delicious homemade food, and the facilities themselves are pristine! There's even a free library from the rotary club near the front desk if you're taking a break from working out but forgot to bring a magazine! One of my absolute favourite spots in Moncton, especially since it's only a couple of blocks away if you want to shop at the discount bulk food items store I'll have to look at recent locations to remember the name, but it's cheaper than Costco on some things and doesn't require a membership, so it's a nice outdoor jog from this YMCA before/during/after your visit.
