Hands down the best grilled chicken in Ottawa. You can really taste the South African spices and the wood charcoal cook. The prices are great. There is always a lineup; for good reason. Chicken is well worth the wait. Get the hottest spice level. Plantain & Mutton also recommended. Any local here in Ottawa should know this place is .

I absolutely love this place and describe it as the hottest food tip in Ottawa. Delicious** combo meal of the chicken and plantain. Yes, you wait in line, but THAT'S A GOOD SIGN PEOPLE. It means you're in a legit food place. I moved to Vanier this year, and one of the perks is being close to this place. Love YKO!

As soon as you walk in you can smell the charcoaled chicken in the air. Had the half chicken combo with rice and fried plantains. Delicious. Everything was well cooked and really tasty. Plantains we’re just excellent and a great addition to the rice. 5 stars for a take out chicken place for sure.

AMAZING food, and it’s not an exaggeration, the chicken tastes amazing and the rice is just the cherry on the top, the reason I’m giving it 3 stars is the customer service, it takes me so much time on the phone to communicate my order, their mic is terrible so you can’t hear them, and they can’t hear you either, and when you arrive there you have to wait at least 20 mins to get your order. And also the restaurant needs some ventilation cause when you go inside it feels like you’re about to suffocate from the sheer amount of smoke lingering in the restaurant.

I take out a very delicious spicy goat but with a poor service system. I ordered online 20 minutes before arriving. When I was there I waited for more than one hour to be served. They should improve their service

This place has some of the most consistently great food in Ottawa. That’s the only reason I consistently put myself through the random operating hours, Rude service, over hour long waits, and just over all disorganization. That’s how good the food is here. That’s the only reason they aren’t getting a one star. Prices are reasonable as well.

Food is great but the staff does not know how to conduct business properly. I've called to place an order for pick up numerous times, it's pointless although they accept the order... The cashier will take an order and dissappear in the back for so long it takes almost 30min just to place an order. Very poor customer service

Uncivilized business model that discriminates based on ethnicity. They supposedly take orders by phone, and then you have to wait at least 30-40 min in line. However, if you speak their language, you can get your order quicker than the other clients.

Four star for the foods especially the chicken but -10000000 for the customer service. I never really make an effort to give reviews on restaurants/food stores but this time I really want to rant about how RUDE and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL the staffs who are working there. I ordered over the phone, because unfortunately, we found out that the owner will turn off uber etas service whenever they are busy. So upon arrival at the place, you have to wait more than half an hour because the order was not prepared despite the pre-order on the phone. They will pretend to give you an order number over the phone but that means nothing and you need to order again personally. Worst thing I experienced with them is when I called the first time and the person hung up before I could even finish to tell him what I want and I called the second time, then he hung up again. The person doesnt seem like he knows how to speak english fluently which is acceptable BUT you could tell that he DOESNT even make an effort to listen to you. I tried to call several times and the guy keeps picking up and hanging up while speaking with someone in the background. Then, he finally turn off their phone so I asked my friend to call the restaurant, and the staff answered and did the same thing to my friend. I couldn't care less how good your food is, if youre customer service is bad then it means nothing to us.

Service and organization is so bad not even worth the bother. Might be able to cook but you will never have the patience to find out. Save the headache and look elsewhere.
