We are a licensed Cafe & Bakery. Fresh local food. Fabulous soups, sandwiches, desserts, & more all made from scratch in our tiny kitchen served in our cozy Dining Room or Garden Patio. VQA Wines, Draft Beer, Cocktails, Teas, Coffees.

Story

We offer a range of lunch choices including fresh, made to order sandwiches, daily soups, salads, savoury scones and daily specials.

Our homemade desserts include Raisin Scones, Date Squares, Carrot Cake with a dollop of cream cheese topping, Chocolate Raspberry Coffee Cake, a rich dark chocolate Gluten Free Cake, and gooey Coconut Macaroons

Our beverage choices include Ontario VQA wines, draft & bottled beer, cocktails, and a selection of teas, coffee, soft drinks & juices.

Our goal is to deliver food that satisfies both the body and the soul, in a friendly, relaxed environment, either in our cozy dining room or on our shaded patio overlooks the Rideau Canal and Merrickville Locks

Everything we tried was delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. Portion sizes were just right—hearty enough to be satisfying but still balanced so you can enjoy every bite. Their soups, sandwiches, and daily specials are especially worth trying.nService was excellent from start to finish. The staff are friendly, attentive, and quick to answer questions or make recommendations. You can tell they take pride in the café and in making sure guests have a wonderful experience.nOne tip: I highly recommend making a reservation, as the café is popular and the seating area is on the smaller side. It’s well worth the planning ahead, though—every visit feels special.nOverall, Yellow Canoe Café is a must-visit in Merrickville for anyone who loves great food, warm service, and a cozy atmosphere.
It is worth driving some distance to experience this. We had a most relaxing late morning and early afternoon here. We even sat out on the patio on a cool day and the food actually warmed us up. People are so polite. Highly recommended.
Hospitality done right, nothing pretentious or over the top. The food is delicious, you can tell it's made with love and care. Very nice combinations of ingredients that made the meal very pleasant.nnThere's also an outdoor section where dogs are welcome! Definitely a recommendation to anyone passing by this quaint little town, I would be surprised if you didn't find something you like. They even cater to different portions, if the whole sandwich is too much, get a half, no extra fuss.
Awesome little cafe. We just went for tea and desserts. There was a lovely selection of gluten free desserts. Highly recommend.
