This is an authentic Suzhou style restaurant with high quality food. The price is quite high compared to the same dishes at nearby restaurants, and the service is sometimes slow. Always make a reservation before you go as the restaurant is cozy without many seats.
First time trying this place and love their rice cake. I have to order again the next day. Very authentic and impressed with the taste. The only thing that we didn’t like is their xiao long bao and the crispy pan fried bun overly sweet. If they can reduce the sugar then I will give 4 star 1 star less because their price are too high you are expecting to spend over $100 for lunch with 2-3 people but I will come back again to try on their other dishes.
From the outside it looked like a little cozy neighbourhood gem. The interior decor was clean and indirect lighting with a minimal design. Most tables were bar tables and could be uncomfortable. Service was prompt but not exceptionally friendly. The quality of food was average and standard with no surprises. All portions were very small and some dishes were designed for 2 people. But the major drawback was the ridiculous price. Check out my photos and the food bill, they are not heard of, at least not in GTA. Taking the dollar-to-quality into consideration, stay away from this place ! And no liquor license ! You have been warned.
Pretty authentic southern zhejiang style Chinese food. Such a wide selection considering the tiny size of the restaurant. However, portions are small as are traditional dishes from this region, so be prepared to drop $80-$100/person for dinner if you want to be full.
This is an authentic Chinese restaurant, with good food and nice decor. We ordered four dishes, all tasting good although a bit pricy. Highly recommend braised pork belly and boiled bean curd threads while crab noodles and tea shrimp are okay.
Taste was very authentic and unquestionably the best tasting shanghai/suzhou Chinese restaurant in Toronto. I see a bunch of people giving lower scores for the higher prices at Yan. But come on man, you can go to a nearby restaurant to eat mediocre food with cheaper prices. You get what you pay for and no free lunch baby.
Delicious Shanghaiese food. This is not your typical dumpling house, as it offers a carefully curated menu of traditional tastes of local cuisine in the Shanghai region. Each dish is very tasty and almost feels like a tapas. Tableware feels very high quality and the food came out I'm a reasonable time. The interior feels warm and cozy with the warmer woods and brighter furniture. Overall, a great dining experience that had me surprised
It's a unique shanghai cuisine restaurant. Fresh design and decoration. The new HONGSHAO pork has a bright color and taste.
Very decent experience. I'm usually not too fond of Southern Chinese cuisines since they tend to be on the sweeter side but I am however a huge fan of pan fried buns, my friends brought me and according to them this place tastes really close to home. The portions aren't big and a little on the pricy side but they make up in quality, I haven't seen any restaurant use quality chicken broth for something as simple as wonton soup before, and their pan fried buns squirt juice. The xiao long bao is also one of the best I've had in recent years. The biggest rec is their meat mooncakes, buy some for take away when you leave, very authentic.
This restaurant is very small but cozy. The decor was quite neat and different compared to other Chinese restaurants. The restaurant was well maintained and super clean. I really like the teapot and tableware. The food quality was quite high and the food were really tasty. However, we felt a bit disappointing because the portion was a bit small and it took a long time to deliver the food due to lack of people working there. The food was on the pricey side, so hoefully this can get improved when we visit again next time.
