It’s nice to have a Chinese dessert and herbal tea shop nearby. This is the only place that I know have Traditional Chinese Herbal Essence Jelly. They offer dine in and take out. Due to limited space and seats, I prefer to order take out. The shop looks clean and organize. It wasn’t busy when I got there after dinner on a Tuesday night. I think this is a good choice if you crave for Chinese desserts.
Ordered a basic red bean adzuki with lotus seeds and lily petals--way too gooey and thick and it lacks the usual aroma and taste of dried citrus skin. The steamed milk pudding with almond "paste" was better. There's a strong aroma of their turtle "pudding", so buy takeout if you don't this smell.
A mediocre traditional Chinese dessert and herbal tea place, extensive menu of old world desserts, got a traditional turtle jelly for take-out, authentic strong herbal taste, nice texture, but with strong after taste.
I went in with my family to get desserts and I got the tofu pudding with ginger. It was tasteless, no soy bean flavor, and it was very watery so little tofu, texture was not right, and it was broken in tiny pieces that I can’t even drain the water out, to put in my ginger syrup. Very disappointing, I came all the way from Boston, Massachusetts
Will never come back again, had ordered in the past but the most recent experience was horrible and left enough of an impression to never come back. The old man presumably the owner was beyond rude when I asked him about paying in card which just a week ago another staff member allowed me to and there blatantly was a card machine just behind himand he proceeded to rudely curse at me and seemed like any customer walking in was a nuisance to him- why do business then?. But that’s not the only issue, I proceeded to still purchase a tofu dessert with ginger and not only did it not have any ginger flavour the tofu had gone bad! Do not come here, there are plenty of other Chinese dessert places well worth your money than this place!
This place was a great find! In 3 days I have tried 7 "desserts" and 2 teas. Definately adding to one of my fav places. I highly recommend the taro and sago soup. So many options for this gluten free celiac girl
Had been to this place many times as they used to have great desserts until recently as everything deteriorated dramatically. Always nothing is available... waited for so long for even any reheated items.. seasame paste dessert.. looks like reheated asphalt as well. the other dessert is not hot.. it’s luke warm... ewwww our last time gathering at this place, feeling very bad seeing this and experiencing this. not the first time having such experience since like few months ago. last word: terrible.
This place use to be my go to but quality has gone down. Night time is always busy and they always run out of glutenous rice balls when I go. This time I finally got it and it wasn't what I remembered it to be. The rice rolls felt like they were reheated in a microwave and it a bit tough for my liking. The presentation of the trio was questionable as it made cutting into it difficult and easy for it to flop on the table. Im hopeful they'll improve and will continue to come here. If they improve then I will change my rating but for now it's staying at a 3.5.
The food was unlike anything we'd ever tried before. My iced drink red bean, coconut, and what tasted like tapioca cubes was amazing, the black sesame was just as good, and my stewed papaya with white fungus was pretty good too.
This place has been a little hidden gem in Times Square for more than 15 years; I used to come here for a late night dessert or chill out after a long day work. I didn’t come back for awhile and recently I came back and feels like maybe owner has changed. Menu didn’t change much but quality of service go down... maybe they are always a busy place and that’s why the servers were less attentive. But overall, the food are still tasty and I would still come back for their food.
