Cool concept for mostly casual and some pieces for work wear. All their clothing include complimentary alterations. They have seamstresses in house to take in your required alterations and made outfits for perfect fit. Good for petites!! It typically takes 3-5 business days for alterations and you can try them on for any adjustments required afterwards.
I had an excellent experience spending a gift card I received. The staff were very helpful in recommending items to try and how to best fit them. I had one item tailored and received great communication via text on when it was ready to pick-up. The best part: staff addressed me by name on my third visit! Loved my experience and absolutely love the items I found!
Love the clothing at Workhall, they have so many staples and classic items that are reasonably priced and of really good quality material. The complimentary tailoring is SO helpful as a short girl - really love that idea. The customer service is also unparalleled to any other store I've been to, they are super helpful and genuinely care about finding you something that works. Cannot praise this store enough!
I love Workhall!!! I recently wandered into Workhall for the first time while walking on whyte ave, I enjoyed the experience so much!! The staff is so friendly and helpful. I had 3 girls helping me find the perfect office outfit that was comfortable, practical and stylish. I bought 3 different types of tops, the fabric is high quality, I have washed a few times and has not stretched or shrunk. I already can’t wait to go back for more outfits. Thanks girls!
It’s holiday party season. Have been humming and haaaing about whether or not I should buy a new dress. Do I treat myself? Do I invest in a new piece that will outshine the rest of the pitiful closet? Will my fellow staff notice if I wear the same dress that I’ve fashioned at every party for the past twelve months? These are the questions that I was contemplating as I walked past WORKHALL. Well folks, I didn’t just get a new garment, I got a fab experience, too. Here’s the story: Walked into an industrial style store wheelchair accessible with a minimalist vibe. I was greeted by a friendly, but not overly attached you know the ones staff person that clearly took pride in her job rare in retail these days. I wandered the store, picking out quite literally every dress they have. Now, I live in Canada, folks. I need a holiday dress that has a bit of oomph. One that is going to keep me warm but not resemble the Michelin man. With each piece I tried on staff showed me what they liked about the fit very complimentary, making me feel like a princess and what they could help alter bless up. We can’t all fit into off the rack garments. In the end I chose a purple romper that will likely last for decades. This will be my new party garment, I said to myself as I pranced through the store. I need a small alteration so get this... they altered it. At. No. Expense. And. In. Four. Days. To top it all off, they wrote me a note... This store knows customer service. This store is the things of dreams. Go there. Give them your money. Support this business.
I love the theory behind workhall alterations + ethical production, but I can't walk into their stores without feeling like I'm being assaulted by sales people. I don't go alone anymore unless it's really busy because the sales people follow you around. It's so awkward and I feel like there's a ton of negative pressure. They also greenwash a bit - their fabrics aren't as eco-friendly as they advertise. They still offer a lot of polyester plastic items, and rayon can also be quite harmful to the environment if it's not properly produced/certified. From what I've seen, none of their items are certified organic. Great idea for a store, but poor execution and customer experience.
Terrible customer service - don't shop here unless you want to be disappointed. I regularly walk by this store downtown and followed them on instagram; I liked the aesthetic of the clothes, as they have an Aritzia vibe. Long story short, I purchased a few items online during a sale; the sale was really good was essentially buy one get half off, so I thought why not see what they're all about. Fast forward to the items arriving and it was a major disappointment. The quality of the items simply isn't there and to be frank, the items leave much to be desired. The biggest issue I had is one of the tops I purchased looked nothing like the photo advertised the color was completely off so I went into the store to see if I could exchange for another color. While in store they told me that I'd have to speak to a manager about it but there were none working interesting timing..., and instead I was given an email address to email. I sent about 3 emails and never heard back - not even a sorry we are unable to accommodate you. Beware when you shop here especially if you purchase something online, that they don't have a reasonable return policy. If the photo doesn't match the item you receive - they don't care. As well, if you buy online the return policy is terrible; so if for whatever reason you still feel the need to shop here after reading this post, at least do yourself a favor and go in store to see if the item fits and looks as expected.
Local Gem. Gorgeous minimilist clothing with beautiful silhouettes, and quality textures! Also, Workhall offers complimentary tailoring with your purchase, which is God sent for petite girls like me! I wore one of my purchases to a wedding in BC and I received so many compliments. Plus the staff is beyond lovely.
Workhall studio is incredible. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. The staff are so kind and helpful. They always go above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences and I highly recommend shopping here. The clothing really is as beautiful as the people that make and sell it.
I had purchased a dress here for an impromptu wedding I attended. The next day, after about one hour at the wedding I was standing my partner pointed out that the entire bottom of my dress was pilling. Threads were even beginning to come out. This was very noticeable because the dress was a light mauve colour and was bodycon in style. I went home to change, and the next day I called the store to let them know what happened. The owner told me to meet her that week to take a look at the dress at her whyte ave location to see if she could fix it for me. On the day and time of our planned meetup, she was nowhere to be found, and I was told by the store manager that she had gone home for the day because it was slow. No call was made to me to reschedule, no note was left for the store so that someone else could help me, so I had to reiterate my issue to the store manager. Before even allowing me to finish telling her what happened, she tantalized me with ridiculous questions like ‘well did you sit down in it at all?’ Are people not supposed to sit in your clothing? This should be better advertised she then went on to tell me that I am ‘the only person who has ever had any issues with Workhalls clothing’ when in reality, there are other reviews posted here regarding similar issues to mine...I brought this up, she actually blamed all of the bad reviews on people who were ‘out to get the company’ or ‘jealous of the company’ and not actually real customer reviews...which was an interesting reflection of the company, and the manager. Kind of made me chuckle. In the end I received no help, no ‘apologies for the inconvenience’ and no refund. Basically a kick out the door and some dirty looks along with it. I was made to think that the fabric not even holding up for one single hour was my own fault. The owner never followed up with me either, about no-showing our scheduled meetup regarding the dress. This company most certainly does not stand behind the quality of its products. This is clearly reflected in their return policy. Once you give them money, they are guaranteed to have it forever even if the product does not stand up, apparently. I cannot begin to describe how horrified I am with the absolute unprofessionalism and treatment I received from this company, especially after my many years as a patron. I am actually embarrassed that this is an Edmonton based company. With competition like Frank and Oak, and Oak and Fort, I can see this company going under very soon with the laughable way they conduct their business.
