A Grand Hotel Restaurant with Bavarian Charm

Story

Located a short horse-drawn carriage ride into the wooded interior of Mackinac Island. The opulent Tudor mansion loaded with Bavarian charm provides for a delightfully casual dining experience. Test your skill on America’s oldest operating duckpin bowling alley. Enjoy before- and after-dinner drinks at Bobby’s Bar opening at noon daily.

Reservations are recommended for dinner.

Overnight guests of Grand Hotel on the Modified American Plan receive a $20.00 per adult credit towards the food portion of their bill. There is tipping at Woods.

This is a must if you are having dinner on the island. A carriage will transport you to and from your hotel for a small fee which makes the experience even more special. Great atmosphere with red checkered table clothes, blazing fireplace, beautiful woodwork and mounted animals on the walls. Top notch wait staff and pretty, delicious food. Makes for a memorable and special evening.

Absolutely delicious food. My husband had a prime rib and he said it was wonderful, tasty and cooked to perfection. I had the Whitefish fillet that was outstanding. The best I've ever had. Our waiter was very friendly. I casually mentioned it was our 50th wedding anniversary and our waiter remembered and after our meal he brought us a delicious chocolate dessert that was outstanding with a candle on it. We highly recommend the Woods Restaurant.

Enjoyed the service (it was excellent) and the food was great. Upscale yet cozy. Well worth the trip out there. BTW, as someone else pointed out I would not walk. My wife and I did bike but the weather was cool so we did not work up a sweat getting there. But a carriage is the more elegant way to get there.

I haven't been there in a while, but I do remember the experience. As we got there via carriage ride, it was beautiful. We got seated near the far end of the restaurant, but the ambiance was amazing and the live performers were doing a great job. It distracted us from the wait, and the waiter was very nice, attended to our needs. I had some venison, and it was delicious. And the duckpin bowling was a lot of fun after the restaurant. The only thing I could complain about is the price was a little high, but the food was well worth it, and the sauce, some red wine vinaigrette, was very salty and bitter. Overall, continue the good work, you guys!
