An excellent casual menu appropriately fits this charming restaurant on Mackinac Island, Michigan.

Story

This fabulous Mackinac Island eatery features an appropriate horse theme from the 1938 true life story of the famous horse, Seabiscuit. A great deal of care was taken to restore the original brick surfaces, hardwood floors and new furnishings have transformed the 1800’s bank building into a cozy comfortable restaurant. An excellent casual menu appropriately fits this charming place.

A fine wine selection is available along with a full bar so stop in for an afternoon cocktail or stay for the evening sipping your favorite martini.

Really nice and attentive staff, food is good and space is a bit cramp. I got the nachos as my lunch (which was way too much!) and they made them perfect! They actually layered the cheese and meat! So every bite was delicious. My daughter got the pulled pork grilled cheese. She loved it! I’d recommend anyone coming to the island try it out. Prices are reasonable too.

The food was decent, not spectacular. Standard pub fair. Service was friendly and helpful. They had some specialty beers and cider that my husband enjoyed. There is no parking lot because on Mackinac Island there are no cars; the bar is wheelchair accessible although some tight turns are required. If there is a large party, you may have to wait as non-bar seating is limited, and I did not see any part of the bar that was at a level appropriate for anyone sitting in a standard wheelchair.

I come here for the food, but my last visit to Mackinac I came here twice to eat and both times had to send back our food to get cooked how we ordered. Servers are friendly and attentive, if you have a moment I'd recommend looking for a gentleman named John. He's a genuinely friendly manager and bartender there and is great for conversation. We'll be back again.
