Very good cocktails after the city tour. The food too was pretty decent. Though some disappointment with the jackfruit tacos which turned out to be sweet. But the staff took care if it and put it off our bills. The Mules are definitely a must try. Spacious enough for big groups too. Loved the vibe of the place. A nice bar setup with a catch Tag - wings and things!
My husband and I ordered the white fish and chips, because, you know, when you visit an Island you want to eat some seafood. It was definitely a good choice! Good food, affordable prices, good service and it was clean. The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because I would prefer it to be cleaner outside and as you can see on the photo there are two fish filets, so it would make sense to put two cream sauces or a bigger one. I was not the only one who asked an extra one. By the way, it was a lot of food!
As a guest at the adjoining Lakeside Hotel, we enjoyed most of our meals here during our 2-night stay. The food was very good but also very pricey. For example the crab cakes appetizer shown in my picture were $16! The service was excellent but the dining area was very basic and in need of an update. We mostly ate here because we had a $100 voucher from the hotel. There are probably more reasonably priced options on the Island to choose from than this place.
Best place on the island for food and drinks! Waitress was on it! Smart about the menu and very attentive to the needs of our party! Highly recommended!!! I'd give this place a 10 star rating. Was here 3 yrs ago and still the best ever!!! Huge salad and best perch!!!!!
There are so many other places to eat it's hard to say this place is any more than just Ok. There were 4 families here when we came, while we were there another couple came and was seated behind us. Their table wasn't clean. It was 5:30pm. Seems rather inexcusable considering how early it was and how empty this place was. The food we ordered, was adequate but sat heavily like a rock. We didn't order anything fancy and ate off the light menu. But I don't think we'll be returning. One bright spot was our waitress Sandy. She was friendly, helpful, and you could tell she was proud of being good at her job.
Drinks were good. Service initially was fine, but everything went downhill after appetizers. Food was brought out and half of the order was incorrect party of 8. The dishes that were brought out were lukewarm at best. The chicken alfredo came with ONE small piece of chicken. See the attached picture of the "Jamaican" chicken sandwich that came with only 5 yes 5 fries. Finally, the other half of the food arrived and there was not a single apology from the waitress. Also, she seemingly disappeared until she brought our check, never asking us if everything was alright clearly it wasn't. Spend your money elsewhere.
We walked in wanting a wine tasting but not knowing what to expect. Our bartender asked what wines we preferred and then chose several for us to try. Everything we sampled, we enjoyed which does not usually happen with a wine tasting. We ended up staying so that I could have a glass of my favorite wine and my boyfriend moved onto trying bourbon that the bartender recommended. It was a fun experience that I would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet hour away from the noisy tourists to relax and unwind.
Todd Allen the owner has done a truly extraordinary job of mixing ambience with truly awe inspiring food..best place in the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan to eat INCREDIBLE food and drink amazing wine!!!
Had such an amazing experience at Goodfellows thanks to Wally. He brought a great atmosphere to the room, fabulous energy and was incredibly knowledgeable about his wines!! Will definitely be back.
Our group arrived at 6:40p, didn't get to order until 7p and we received our food at 7:54p. The restaurant was almost empty and our waiter only checked on us once. My husband ordered a $35 strip steak medium, which arrived completely raw on the inside. At this point we had waited so long we were going to be late for an event and had to leave without finishing half the steak as he could only force down so much. Unfortunately another member of our group had to leave before food arrived due to their child waiting so long and not having a meal. We travel to the island often and will not be back as this has been our 2nd bad service experience. For the price the food and service leave much to be desired.
