A very busy part of the Beaches. Woodbine Beach Park has several beach volleyball courts on the West side of the beach. There’s a children’s playground close by with a year round restaurant and snack bar. This is the Best place to view Toronto’s fireworks from Ashbridges Bay it’s also the most packed with people.nnSummer brings outdoor lifeguards that monitor the swim zones. Swim within the buoys in front of Donald D Summerville pool, it’s roughly 500m marked off. The swim zone is incredibly shallow, as in knee deep water for most of the 500m stretch. There are definite areas where the water is above your head West side of beach by the rocks. Also, there is a definite West to East current. It’s quite strong but not enough to suck you out. If anything, I notice that the day to day water temperature fluctuates quite a lot by the currents. One day, it’s super warm. The next day, it’s cold. Hard to predict sometimes. This is likely why many open water swimmers go to Cherry Beach instead. Calmer currents and warmer protected water. ‍nnDonald D. Summerville outdoor pool is in this area. The pool is open for the Summer months only. There are 3 pools upstairs: a dive tank, 25m pool and the coveted 50m pool. The pool hosts all-day lane swims! Very popular. There are bathrooms with hot showers and change rooms with lockers. A children’s playground is just outside the pool. There is a foot washing station at Donald D Summerville pool. Right next to the public bathrooms.nnThere is also a change room area plus washrooms close to the volleyball courts. I don’t know much about them. I haven’t bothered with these in over a decade.nnThere is a boardwalk that stretches for several kilometres. It’s very popular. Many local residents walk along here daily, all day, all year long. There is also a parallel bike trail, go slow through this zone. Lots of people, children and pets.nnSummer is busy. Pay for parking if you plan to stay for the day. Any street parking by the beach is heavily monitored by Toronto Parking Enforcement. Street parking exists but so does parking enforcement that virtually lives in this hood. I’ve seen parking enforcement out as early as 09:00 on a Saturday ticketing cars. Also, if you parked blocking a hydrant or driveway it happens often, parking enforcement usually tickets you then waits for the tow truck. You’ve been warned.
Impossible to find parking within 5mins walk distance from the beach, on the weekend.nFairly neat, the beach was ok and I was not impressed.nLifeguards all around.nWater seemed clean in that area surprisingly for lake Ontario.
Really nice area to picnic, take a walk or go for a bike ride on a nice day. Plenty of areas to set up at with many BBQs located throughout the park as well.
The board walk by the beach is a perfect place to spend a late afternoon. There are places to do bbq and small picnics.
Beautiful place, with a big green area for picnics or just chill with friends. The beach is also very nice to spend the evenings!
