Visited with my parents over the weekend! Nice pub and very friendly staff! Had the chicken roast dinner - lovely roast potatoes, mulled wine red cabbage was to die for, delicious kale! The chicken was a tad dry and the Yorkshire pud slightly over done. Had a dark chocolate brownie for dessert which was gorg! Overall a nice experience!
Update February 2023: Revisited this pub at a later hour during my next visit. This time, I was not so happy: The girl behind the bar knew nothing about the beers, wasn't terribly friendly either, and two of the four cask ales weren't available. Pity, my first impression had been so positive. So that's minus 1 star from last time. Original review: Spent a very pleasant two hours there on the trip home to Germany. With only 3 hours until having to leave for Stansted Airport, I didn't have the energy to face the push and shove in the heart of London, so I stayed in the area around Liverpool Street Station. There's plenty of pubs close to the station, but they're mostly conventional chained pubs and extremely busy Nicholson's, you get the picture. This place is different: A great selection of real ale cask and keg beers, plus a nice, agreeably small menu. Of course the prices are elevated, but okay for London. The barman was knowledgeable and friendly, the decor is very pleasant, and above all: for the area, it was very quiet on a lazy Sunday afternoon the pub is located in a small side street, very close to the station. Had three different pints, and a small dish, the grilled chorizo, which had a nice, slightly vinegary apple cider sauce. A-okay for UKP 7. I'm happy to have found this friendly, stylish place, and will go again when in the area. Highly recommended!
Nice place with a good list of beer and well located very close to Liverpool Street station. A couple of dart boards down the back are very entertaining too. Prices are a little punchy though £8 a pint for some beers. Genuinely friendly bar staff
I stumble into this place with two mates last month and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I had two drinks a larger to which I enjoyed and a pint of cider. I have never tasted something so delicious in my life. It was that nice it would have been lethal on me. I cannot remember the name of it but it tasted like sunnydelight no, I know it wasn't orange squash. If I could buy this again I would. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and the people behind the bar was very welcoming and polite. If we are in the area again I will definitely make a visit here to taste that beautiful cider again. I would give more than the allocated stars if I could.
After having a poor pint of Ale at a pub round the corner which will remain unamed, this establishment was on the ball when it came to cask ales...Icelandic guy at the bar very welcoming and a nice vibe in this pub!
Really looked me and my work team at our Christmas meal on Monday. Food was lovely and tasty and drink selection was great. They even made the table all nearly layed out which was a lovely touch. Thanks to the bar staff and chef.
Just like the name says, they have a great selection of fresh cask and cider available. Nice little spot tucked down a side street near Spitalfield market. Service was fast and friendly despite it busy with Christmas parties. If you’re in the area and like craft beer be sure to check it out
Great selection of craft beers for a central London location. Traditional pub with a good atmosphere, busy weekday evenings.
Met up with friends at a nearby pub, which was far to busy and noisy. Walked around the corner, found this place. Never been before, friendly staff, good atmosphere. Great selection of ciders
Really good selection of craft beers IPAs and ciders, stuff know their trade and you can try before you buy, casks are updated regularly so there is something for everyone in a great pub!
