Absolutely loved our stay! This is a beautiful well kept and well managed getaway! Travelling here all the way from Alberta was a fantastic holiday. The self-composting toilets are always clean, and there’s no smell because of the sawdust. The tiny cabins were a perfect size for the 4 of us along with 2 dogs. They are private and well maintained. The lake is quiet and calm, and the free use of canoes, kayaks, paddle boards is amazing! Made the kids so excited to go out on the lake every chance they could. We highly recommend this little piece of paradise! The only reason I’m only giving 4 stars is because of the shear amounts of Thatcher Ant hills everywhere along all the trails. Made hiking with the dogs less enjoyable because I constantly could see the ants everywhere and felt the creepy crawly feeling of ants all over me whenever I had to stop to pickup after my dogs.
I have stayed at Wildwoods Hideaway four times now. Always a great escape. Beautiful waterfront resort. Owners are responsive to any concerns or requests. If it gets too quiet you can drive into town for shopping or a meal out. Close to several hiking trails. Amenities include canoes, paddle boards, and a sauna. Each cabin has a fire pit with bags of firewood for purchase. It is my summer must do.
Loved our time at Wild Woods Hideaway. The 4 of us stayed at a tiny cabin 2 adults , 2 kids. Not a ton of room but everything you need and clean. The composting toilets were awesome no odour my kids used them no issues. The provided water and firewood. The sauna was very nice. We used the dock, canoes etc and all was in good working order. We will be back, booking a larger cabin and staying longer. Very close to Kenora 10 mins from campsite to Safeway in Kenora. Thank you for making our first family camping experience a memorable one.
They have a good infrastructure with cabins and tends for your lake trip. Cabins and tends have all utensils for cooking and washing hands, pans, plates and glass. Washrooms all over the place and one shower room a loonie-pay-per-use for 7min shower. Kaiak and canoe are included to use. They have sauna and wood for fire pit - $10/bag. The guys who give you a tour around the property when you arrive are very kind. Definitely a place to come back.
We stayed in the Hawthorne cabin which is pet friendly and it was lovely! The view is beautiful and it is amazing being able to use the stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks, we had a lovely evening by the water! The sauna was great and easy to use! Make sure to bring some loonies for the shower and your own bedding! We loved our time at Wild Woods and would recommend it to anyone!
This place is such a beautiful hidden gem near Kenora. You’re right off the highway, but somehow feel completely one with nature. The cabins are comfortable and all run on solar energy, plus they have composting toilets. And no lies, best smelling bathroom because of it! The dock is beautiful, Peter is super helpful and extremely responsive to texts. We stayed in the Nettle cabin and its very private. The Hawthorne cabin looked equally gorgeous and overlooked the water — I’d try that one next time. We went on three different hikes that led us to private beaches, waterfalls, etc and they were all within a 5 minute drive. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Peter was installing a sauna that will overlook the water that is going to be amazing when it is done. It is also very dog friendly and my pup had the best time.
Such a beautiful place to stay! The cabins are well maintained, the water is very private with two docks and free access to kayaks and canoes. The log cabins were so cute and the owner was very responsive and willing to help with anything you might need. Will definitely be going back!
This was a great experience..Peter the owner is the best host making sure you are happy .The suggestion I would update the pots and pans please ..the pots had broken handles hard to grab when ready lol please update ur toaster to..overall we still give u all 5 stars worth the stay ..be proud of what little Haven u created..thank Steve & Sue
Best outdoor experience you could have we would love to see more disabled accessible cabin..so all could enjoy what we did..the owner and crew were the best ..goes out of there way to help you..great job Peter!!
Was a wonderful time and the scenery is amazing. Great value. Tiny cabin was a lot of fun. Hiking trail was great!! A little lacking in staff and overall cleanliness. No garbage or recycling bins near cabins. Bring your own air mattress if you want a better sleep. Mattresses provided are rather thin and uncomfortable. Overall a happy stay and would recommend and would likely return
