Last year, my daughter attended a small private school that we loved, but we decided to move her to WPGA because it’s a bigger school with more resources, and we felt it would benefit her in the long run. Despite being on the shy side, she adjusted quickly and absolutely loves her school now.nnThe teachers are incredible. She’s developed a strong bond with her main teacher, Ms. Nguyen, who is the perfect mix of sweetness and support—exactly what young children need. They teach in such a thoughtful way, using play to help kids explore emotions, kindness, identity, and other important life skills. I also appreciate their approach to homework. At this age, kids should have time for free play instead of being buried in books every evening, and WPGA gets that balance just right. Even though we see no homework, my daughter, out of nowhere, started writing, and her reading skills improved dramatically. Whatever they’re doing, it’s working! She’s genuinely excited about learning, which is the best outcome I could hope for.nDuring the application process, the school assured us they prioritize diversity, and they’ve truly delivered on that promise. Her class has a wonderful mix of cultures, which I love because it gives her exposure to different perspectives and backgrounds from a young age.nThe parent community has been another huge, unexpected highlight. The families here are such a great mix of interesting, down-to-earth people who genuinely care about the school. Many parents actively volunteer their time to make the school better, which creates such a strong, positive environment.nOverall, we’re thrilled to be part of WPGA. I know it is just 4 months, but so far so good. The school is such a big part of our lives now, and I feel like we have this amazing, like-minded community to help us raise our children. That kind of support is truly priceless.
I enrolled my child at West Point Grey Academy with high hopes, but unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations.nnThe mistreatment of students was evident in several instances, with my child overlooked and undervalued by staff. Teachers are inexperienced in dealing with student conflicts and will unfairly resolute issues the easy way out to save time. In the long run, this corrupts community togetherness and fails to teach our children lessons of morality and straighten their values. This negligence is concerning, as it fails to be reflective of our trust and tuition paid to this institution.nnFurthermore, professionalism among teachers was lacking, with instances of unpreparedness and disorganization impacting the quality of education provided. The grading system is poorly designed, failing to hold students at a prompt standard to tailor higher learning. The lack of both emotional and intellectual learning maintaining our students lead to a breakout of unnecessary conflict amongst parents, teachers, and within student groups. This is not the standard of excellence advertised by the admission.
Exception staff and learning experience. I have had the pleasure of dealing with staff and students at WPGA. The school is a model of educating minds as well a model of inspiring spirit. Education is more than addition and regurgitation it is an experience of how to think and work with team members and the community. If all schools could create this experience our next generation would be so much better off.
Applied for the school for JK as we live in the neiborhood. Teacher who is on the video interviewing the kid was rude, arrogant and unprofessional. Without self introduction, speaking fast with poker face and ended the session rudely without basic manner. I emailed head office but they did not care to response. I guess there is the atitude they want to show.
Definitely the best secondary school experience I've seen. A strong ethos of achievement and compassion infuses the whole organization. Students are energetic, faculty are passionate and parents are supportive. It's a privilege to be part of.
