This school used to be a fun and harmonious place to learn in. Now it’s so poorly operated especially by the head of school, Richard Kassissieh. There have been so many turn overs in such a short period of time and most of the capable teachers and operation staff have departed, it’s such a shame.nNot to mention, deleting honest constructive reviews to try to protect their school's declining reputation shows how bad the school is being run right now. There are much better well operated and reputable private schools in Vancouver where your money should be spent for your child’s education.
Our family has been part of the Stratford Hall community for many years, and it is deeply concerning to witness the decline in stability and transparency under the current leadership. When we initially chose Stratford Hall, we did so with the expectation that our children would complete their education there, drawn by the school's welcoming environment, diversity, and alignment with our core values. However, since the appointment of Head of School Richard Kassissieh, we have observed a series of unsettling changes.nOne of the first major disruptions was the unexpected departure of Dr. Michael Palmer, the highly respected and well-regarded PYP Principal, who left mid-term without prior notice or explanation. This was followed by a wave of faculty resignations, including one instance where a teacher gave notice on a Friday and left by the following Monday. Additionally, last term, PYP students did not receive their report cards—an unprecedented situation.nCompounding these issues, the school has imposed a staggering 9% tuition increase while simultaneously shortening the academic year by one week. In practical terms, this equates to an effective 12-13% increase in tuition. Since 2021, tuition has risen by over 30%, now reaching nearly $30,000 for students in Kindergarten through Grade 10—surpassing even Tier 1 private schools. Yet, Stratford Hall now exhibits staff instability comparable to or worse than that of public institutions.nA review of the school’s latest annual report further raises serious financial concerns. Under Mr. Kassissieh’s leadership, operating expenses have increased by 20%, including the acquisition of a vacant, deteriorating building between the PYP and DP campuses for an astonishing $30 million. Notably, this property has a BC Assessment value of only $5 million. For context, the existing PYP and DP buildings are assessed at $16 million and $15 million, respectively. Such a significant financial decision raises serious questions about fiscal responsibility and long-term planning. If a CEO in any corporate setting were to increase operating costs by 20% while making such an imprudent investment, they would likely face immediate dismissal and legal scrutiny.nAs parents, we must recognize that our children’s education is one of the most significant investments we make. If you are considering Stratford Hall, we strongly encourage you to explore alternative private schools that provide better value, stability, and accountability. Your hard-earned money should be spent on an institution that prioritizes educational excellence and responsible governance—because our children deserve nothing less.
Strongly focused on the school community- staff care about their students here. Refreshing rigour- however some teachers have become overly lenient.nnBiggest critique would be the highly politicized curriculum. At times it felt like there was a right and wrong answer to general discussion questions, regarding race, gender and sexuality. I don’t believe this black and white thinking fosters true growth.
The school must be so corrupt because they removed dennis's review to save themselves from embarassment that their own STUDENTS leave bad reviews. XD
Stratford Hall school is an amazing IB World School. It contains all 3 IB programsPrimary Year Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Progamme. The students are sweet and nice there. The athletic team is really amazing and strong in ulti. We also go on adventures every week! We also do passion project and personal project; about the things we are passion and are really interested in. The schools athletic program is amazing too! The coaches are sweet and nice and provides a healthy training and safe area for students.
