I’ve been there last year. The campground is okay if you don’t expect much. It’s very tiny but I like it. However, the swimming area is bad and the host woman is even worst. She’s rude! Don’t have customer service skills. I’ll come back only if she gets fired.
I enjoyed my stay here- you can rent a boat for a good price across the lake from this campground. Dishwasher station was convenient- neighboring campers were friendly- host is accommodating. Showers are coin-op and stay nice and warm- bathrooms are super clean! Only buzzkill was you can't have a tent pitched at your site if you're mobile-camping rv, truck, etc so as not to kill the grass. I needed a tent pitched for my two kiddos to play in using it as a playpen/no one sleeping in it and was told I had to take it down. Other than that rule, everything else is great about this campsite.
Great overall campground. Well kept, quiet, not too busy - we stayed Sunday - Wed. Tent & RV sites w/water & power. Showers & bathrooms are nice & clean. Lake access is really good. Boat launch is right next to campground.
The staff was friendly and the bathrooms were clean and warm. However, we did not feel safe. We were the only campers on site and woke up at 1am in the morning to several car headlights pulling in and out of the campgrounds. At 2am we woke up to a wolf silhouette outside our tent. It circled our tent 3 times, went into the water. Later in the night we thought we heard footsteps near our tent. The wolf-silhouette was the neighbors Siberian Husky who kept coming for food the previous day and the no less than 15 times the next. Each time the owner was not to be found, no collar on the dog and the camp host said it was a ongoing problem because it just had puppies in the last few weeks. We walked the dog across the road each time, but it completely ruined our experience and was a huge liability for being bitten if it felt threatened. Do not leave your things out at night and do not stay here if you can avoid it.
Quiet family friendly rv park. Most sites are not level but every site is short walking distance to the lake. The staff are friendly and the park is clean. Showers are a quarter for 2 hot minutes. Ice is available from host shack. No dump facilities but water and electricity are included in the RV sites. Tent sites are on nice grass. Lots of big trees for shade. We look forward to our next stay.
As others have mentioned, the lady that runs this place is hard to talk to. She appears to not understand the questions being asked and gives answers like you're dumb. She is very strict and seems to be watching you to see when you step out of line. We had 2 sites and all others next to us were empty. She came to tell us our tent was over the imaginary line between the sites. Also we had 8 people 1 family of 3, one family of 5 and she said maximum 4 people per site and only 1 tent, less we pay an extra $20 for extra tent fee, but couldn't put more people on the site still maximum 4. Was weird. Who cares? We had sites 9 and 10 and they are great - fire pit, on the water, under large willow tree. Kids played in the sand and swam right there. Shower costs $.25 for a couple minutes. Ice for sale. I went running, walking, and biking around the lake on all days there and it was fun to go through the orchard neighborhoods. One day a guy came to spray for weeds right along the waters edge---not sure that's legal!
The fishing here is pretty good. I have always caught decent sized rainbow trout. The tent sites are on sand and the lake isn't what I would call swim worthy because of algae growth, but if you are in it to relax and fish this is a great place to be. There is also a small area of grass where my kids enjoyed playing.
This campground is tiny and not as good as state parks but I like to camp here because of good fishing. If you like perch this is the place for you! However, unfortunately there is no fish cleaning station. Once I was cleaning my fish near my tent, and a host female passed by and she got very angry at me… the funny thing that I was trying to build a conversation with her but she didn’t want to talk to me. She showed me all her anger and quickly left… So, I guess you have to clean your fish at the lake or somewhere besides the campground! I wish this place had a fish cleaning station and a better host.
The host woman was terrible. Very hateful and racist. I wish she woul be fired so people will camp with joy. ***P.S. when she will bite you, please don't forget to call the city and file a complaint. She needs to be fired.
Pros: Great view and perfect alternative to spending over 1000's on a rental for a week. There are a few areas where you can camp out but seems like it's mostly for people with RVS. Beautiful view, bathrooms with showers and regular toilets and water is accessible on site as well. Convinient little dish washing station behind bathrooms. Also pet friendly. Cons: It's in Manson, so it's a small drive to get to town. They are super strict about having your dog on a leash AT ALL TIMES. Water is pretty murky and a lot of slime greenness on bottom of water so water shoes are a must. Also, it's right in a pocket to where we got huge gusts of wind blow everything from napkins to floties. Second year we've been here and it happened both times.
