A family owned resort on beautiful Houghton Lake.

Story

Wakaigan Shores is the perfect place for your family vacation. We are located on the West side of the North Bay of beautiful Houghton Lake. We have a large property with 260 feet of lakefront including a sandy beach area. The lake is perfect for swimming with its sandy bottom and shallow depth so you can enjoy our swim raft or play a game of water volley ball. We have 130 feet of dock for your boat and Houghton Lake is a great lake for fishing. The authentic log cabins each have two bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen with cable TV. The commons building is a great place to play a game of cards, work on a jigsaw puzzle, or watch a movie on our big screen TV. We look forward to seeing you at our family owned and operated resort!

We have stay here for years on an annual basis and the owners are the best. Clean, beautiful setting and the best view on the lake.

Wakaigan Shores was a fantastic place to stay. The cabins fit 6 of us comfortably and we stayed nice and warm even during the dead of winter. The cabins sit right on Houghton lake and provide stunning views. Apart from the occasional snowmobile going on you really feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There are many activities that can be done near by. There are miles of cross country ski trails, hiking, swimming, boating etc. Anything you want to do outdoors you will be able to find it. about 5 miles down the road are is a little city so you can pick up food and supplies and anything else you may need. The best part of the entire stay were the owners Jim and Nancy. They were what really made the stay unforgettable. They were always there to tell you how to get somewhere or advice on what to do. They truly cared about the guests and making sure they had a fantastic time. If you go in the winter you may even be lucky enough to try their home made chili. There was nothing better after a long day out in the cold. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back.
