Great selection of Japanese snacks, drinks, and freshly made meals. The staff is very nice and the eat in area is kept clean. The portions are not huge, but the quality of the food is well worth it. Try the hire curry!
Second time I visited Wabukuro to get some Bento. Honestly, I was a little bit disappointed at this time because I felt everything was too salty except the potato salad. I don't remember it was like this at the first time visit, but I also found the rice was very dry and old. I could see the rice was yellow-ish. Their Bento are affordable comparing to other Vancouver restaurants, but I prefer to pay a little more to have better quality Bento than getting this for the next time.
The bento boxes at Wabukuro are perfect for a light and hearty lunch. I got a vegge katsu bento box and it came with plant based chicken nuggets, potato salad, white rice, seaweed salad, green bean gomaae, pickles and an egg. Everything is lightly seasoned and the food didn't give me food coma. I recommend it for anyone who wants a balanced lunch. Vegetarian options: The egg sandwich, edamame, potato salad, green bean gomaae , seasame salad, and vegge katsu bento are all vegetarian.
We got the Chicken Nandan Bento, Teriyaki Chicken Bento, and egg sandwiches. The bento included a good balance of protein and veggies and a variety of items. The Teriyaki chicken in my bento was a bit tough, so I would recommend trying the Chicken Nandan instead. This is more of a takeout restaurant since there are only two tables.
Cheaper food than the usual Vancouver prices, and the portions reflect that. If you expect to only pay 9$ for food and be full, I would say don't hold your breath. Ordered the Gyudon beef on rice first for 9$ and the portion size is barely filling as the rice is filled halfway, and meat was scarce. Had to order a chicken karaage curry to satisfy my hunger. That curry was very filling and very good. keep in mind I'm a 190lb athletic man who eats medium to bigger portions. TLDR; Overall decent food, nice decor and authentic Japanese treats and drinks, prices are cheaper but food portions reflect that.
Impeccably authentic Japanese bento and to go options in a modern takeout and grocery store hybrid space. They also have a small section for those wanting to dine in. The owners are very hospitable and I highly recommend the Chicken Nanban. Must try!
Pork cutlet . Disappointed. It wasn’t the soft part of meat. The meats are dry as you can see. Hard to chew as much as dry squid. But i liked the side dishes. good portion as well.
Took over the location of Koi Poke RIP to one of my favourite poke shops. Modern little shop for grab and go Asian eats, but with a few tables. Nice service and greetings from the staff! Had their Chicken Nanban Bento and loved the variety of items it came with, like a tasting menu. The chicken was tender and the tartar was excellent. Also tried their potato salad and egg sandwich. The pricing for the bento box is pretty reasonable for a lunch or dinner portion! While the egg sandwich was tasty, not sure if it was worth the $7 but that could be the going rate for sandwiches now! Will definitely be back to try their other food options like their curry and gomoku rice. They also sell a selection of Asian snacks and refrigerated drinks that you can browse through!
Probably one of the best value for money Beef bowl is under $7! Had the chicken karaage curry and it was good. The chashu bowl was delicious! Would definitely come back. Only 2 groups can eat inside.
Hi Chef. Hi Owner, Question for you. Do you serve your Bento Cold????? I had my order delivered. The delivery was even ahead of schedule, but my food was cold like just came out from fridge. Can you give me an explanation Please?
