WA Bagel
"Canada's first Japanese-style bagel shop. WA-BAGEL's original bagels are made with Canadian flour and Japanese koji yeast. This gives the bagels a chewy and light consistency. For flavoured bagels, instead of mixing ingredients into the dough, they are rolled in, similar to rice balls or sushi rolls. This allows the texture and the filling to shine through with each bite. WA-BAGEL is a counter service spot and will be open Monday to Friday, offering take-out, with delivery options to come. Guests can also order and dine across the hallway in the building’s spacious communal concourse."

The store is kinda hidden, located downstairs at a building across from Burrard skytrain. When I got there today around 2:15pm it was quite busy but line up moved quickly since most people ordered grab and go. Unfortunately, they run out of their red bean cream cheese so I got pumpkin instead. It was $3 and they warm it up for me. Honestly, while it’s good I feel nothing special about the bagel. It has chewy texture but I don’t taste pumpkin at all.
It was quite busy here the day I got here. They were sold out of all their speciality bagels so I could only order a plain bagel with cream cheese. I def need to come back cuz their plain bagel was amazing!!! This place is also inside the park place building so look for that inside of a store front on the street.
Sold out pretty fast so be there early. Bagel was warm and fresh. I got couple to go, and it’s easy to reheat it by using the air- frier. Clean and tidy store with friendly bagel chef smiling.
Must say the staff are very kind and service was excellent. Downside is their product. This is just my own personal opinion as an ex Montrealer that knows about bagels. This is not a bagel. It was very tough, almost raw. I ordered the Pacific smoked salmon, onions, capers, and cucumber with cream cheese. Won't be back, but wish them best of luck.
Came around 2 pm on a Friday, so the selection was sparse. Ordered 1 of each of the 3 remaining Lemon & Red Bean, Red Bean & Cream Cheese, Matcha Kinako. They had a nice lightness and chewy texture to them when warmed, with a decent amount of ingredients for the ones with cream cheese and red bean. With the Lemon & Red Bean, the red bean was more pronounced and I wish the citrus-y flavour came through more. Their specialty flavours are between $4 to $5, so they're not cheap, but they are unique and make a good treat. There's a nice public seating area outside the shop in the bottom level of Park Place. Would recommend to try, but go earlier in the day for the best selection of bagels!
Absolutely love this Japanese bagel store! Their bagels are delicious and have a unique taste. The staff is friendly and the service is excellent. Highly recommended!"
I was anticipating the opening of this place for a while and it was worth the wait! I think Japanese-style bagels are my new favourite. I tried the mochi matcha, sweet potato black sesame, and red bean and cream cheese bagels. The texture is so addicting! Chewy and fluffy, and the fillings inside are unlike any bagels I’ve had before. The sandwiches are pricey but worth it, especially the Pacific Bagel.
My second visiting this time and decided to leave some review. For the first visiting I ordered matcha redbean bagel and regular bagel with butter. Matcha redbean was okay, bagel with butter - didn't like it cause it was almost bagel soaked in to melted butter. It tastes good but I dont like my hands get greasy and melted butter dropped all over my lap. This time, I got matcha kinako and sweet potato bagel, I love these! Matcha and kinako beige soybean powder, tastes nutty and savoury combination is amazing. Also sweet potato bagel has sweet potato filling in it, I love it as well! I would visit again to get these bagel. Also, the staffs are always so nice and kind, it makes me feel great.
Not just a boring bagel. The wide option of flavors ranging from Matcha to sweet potato is incredible. Ordered the Red bean and cream cheese bagel. It was fresh from the oven. Really accentuated the taste. The warm red bean paste in the bagel with cream cheese was a delight. Definitely going again.
I was so excited to try their Japanese style bagel but it was too early to comeVisited at 9am but Matcha, Mochi bean, Kinako aren’t ready line up was not crazy I just waited 5min. Salmon sandwich with Shiso cream cheese was great! I’ll try to go at lunch time next time. There’s nice place to sit in front of the shop.
