Not overly impressed here. I wanted gnocchi for my birthday dinner, booked a reservation at Veloce for myself and 7 friends... only to find out after ordering apps and drinks that they don’t actually serve gnocchi and haven’t in a while. Pretty disappointing since it’s still on the menu. Our server was brand new, first day on the job and he did a decent job considering, but he did make a few mistakes ordered tomato basil sauce and received bolognese sauce, disappeared for a while when we were ready to pay, etc... not his fault, he told us a few times it was his first shift. The food here was pretty good. Highlight was the arancini, it is delicious! We were asked if we wanted Parmesan cheese on our pasta, but instead of grating it onto our food we were given a shaker of powdered cheese on the table.. thought that was kind of weird for an “Italian kitchen”.. even Eastside Mario’s offers freshly grated Parmesan. The ambience is ok, but the music needs improvement. Weird remixes of top 40 songs, in slow jazz style. Not our cup of tea. I wanted to like Veloce but we all agreed our experience did not live up to our expectations.
Every bite of everything we ate was delectable. The food tasted very authentic and fresh. Excellent service and atmosphere. We arrived without a reservation on a Saturday and were accommodated. One drawback was the shock when the bill came. For only two of us with an appetizer, two entrees, and one alcoholic beverage the bill was $120. A nice place to go for a date that is nicer than the everyday chain restaurant. Overall would definitely recommend for good Italian food, if you’re willing to spend a bit more.
Went there for Halloween dinner and had a great experience! The menu had just changed the day before, the staff took time to provide guidance on the new offerings and made recommendations I took and was glad to have done so! Meat platter is great as appetizer, almost not enough for two and could use more bread but great cheese options. Had the roast pork pizza, very tasty even a little on the spicy side. I’ll come again!
Plenty of parking. Great service, good food and great atmosphere. We also appreciate the great service provided by the server that day. Keep up the excellent work.
My favourite restaurant in town has got all new staff and management. I was all for the new change and menu when I first walked In! After recieving our 2 salads and brucetta which now has no tomatoes on it, I will NEVER go back again and that pains me to say for a restuarant I felt so highly of. I ordered the ceasar salad as I always do, this time the bacon bits came out raw. I have attached pictures to justify why I felt this way as management informed me that it was indeed cooked. The new squash salad looked phenomenal on paper, very sad when you see it. I have served my whole life so I completly understand how things change and how mistakes happen. It's the way the 2 staff members one being the new "manager" handled the situation that made me never ever want to go back again. Very rude, would not make another salad without bacon for me and when I asked for a contact email to Express my experience, they "didnt know" as they were too new... It's actually so sad how fast this restaurant went from the best in town to the worst. Will never go back and will share this experience with all. So disappointed I am going back to work starving, and sitting in the parking lot writing this as I am that let down by the food and service I just experienced. NOTE: there was no offer to remake my meal OR any alternative, only to take it off the bill. There was also no explanation it was pancetta until I said I would be writing a review. Damage control is what was done for your own behalf, not customer service in my opinion. There was also no trying to resolve the issue, you tried to get rid of me saying you did not know your email which is funny as I see your email offered all over your bad reviews.
Pizza is excellent. Not quite on par with Brooklyn’s Grimaldi’s but still good. Service is also excellent.
Our supper was wonderfully delicious. We had the brussel sprout appetizer, a mushroom pasta, and a pork pizza. Everything was excellent from the food to the service. It was a pleasant atmosphere on a fairly slow evening likely due to snowy conditions. My only disappointment was that I forgot my leftovers which I was looking forward to savoring again tomorrow.
Food was served very fast only seemed like 10 minutes after ordering, and our server was very attentive and polite. He let us switch tables as the one we were seated at originally was quite wobbly and would have gotten rather obnoxious once we got our food. Absolutely delicious pizza here - definitely thicker crust than what you would find at a place like Famoso, but the Sicilian I tried here at Veloce was just about as tasty! On our visit I also noticed that they offer takeout as well as sit-down service. I didn't see any mention of this on their website, but I'm glad that I know about that now. Will definitely be back!
Best wood fired pizza around but their daily chef features are always great too. Duck confit is excellent! The dessert portions are generous. Definitely shareable. Great value. Amazing management and service from Lawrence and the team. We have recommended to all our foodie friends because it's become our new 'go-to' spot.
First time dining at Veloce. We arrived without a reservation and were seated promptly. Service was good throughout; however, the food was disappointing. The scallop appetizer was over salted and the bread was tough. The pizza crust was also tough although the toppings were tasty. We found the atmosphere was lacking.
