UVM Medical Center Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Center

Dr. Blankstein has always done right by me and did my knee replacement surgery in late 2017. It was so seemless and routine to him, you'd think he was just making toast or something. This surgeon is a rock star in my opinion.

I went to University of Vermont ( now Fletcher-Allen?) I never had surgery before. I needed to have both knees joints replaced..i was " bone on bone". Dr Halsey is the best surgeon ever. He is very compassionit and caring. He and Tammi his nurse were with me every step of the way. I came to the University of Vermont from Long Island where a patient centered approach does NOT exist. A couple of years later Dr Halsey replaced my left hip..I would do it again in a heartbeat . It was " a piece of cake" Plus, Dr Halsey is easy on the eyes.....

Long wait, saw a PA who looked at my x-ray and exclaimed that I was going to need surgery, jumped up and left the room. Was gone for 15 minutes. Couldn't get in for a consultation with the surgeon for over 2 months. Given a boot and told not to put weight on it until I met with surgeon. Never got an actual diagnosis. . Very frustrating experience. Decided to go elsewhere for care. All my other experiences with UVM MC have been positive and many but this department is obviously way understaffed and needs to hire more doctors.
