I have been going to TCH for about 10 years. Dr. Trout is my excellent primary, but there is always someone available if you really need to see someone quickly. In todays post Covid climate, THC continues to provide the best quality of medical service IMO. I have had no complaints.
I have no problems with any of the professionals I have seen at this office, however, I have been treated so poorly by the person who answers the phone I am giving them one star. It seems you are not allowed to advocate for yourself at all. I called to make an appointment and was told I needed to see someone I had never seen before who was a nurse practitioner but I needed to see the doc or a PA because of issue I was having. She insisted I was saying the nurse was worse and I had to correct her 3 times that it was a different training i was looking for. I asked if i could see the PA who i had seen several times in the past. No! She put me on hold came back telling me who I was going to see as if I had no control over my care. I finally said Ok to the virtual appointment figuring I would walk into one of those clinics for the other issue. As soon as I told her that she hung up on me, not even saying goodbye. I called back and explained that I paid for my insurance and she was working for me, and needed to treat me respectfully. I know doctors think of themselves as gods, but when did the office help join that club. Trying to connect with practice manager and she keeps hanging up on me instead of connecting me. Lodging complaint with Medical licensing. Don't EVER try to advocate for yourself at this office.
My family and I have been at this practice for more than 20 years. I’ve had great experiences and care personally, and for my children with their various childhood through adult issues. Pam Dawson is my primary there and I’ve seen many other doctors and nurse practitioners over the years with excellent results. When needed They have referred my family to appropriate specialists and at follow up appointments were thorough and helpful getting additional support to pinpoint and resolve challenging issues. I am very happy to have such excellent professionals within a 10 minute drive. I highly recommend this practice.
The attitude at this place is pretty bad. Snappy on the phones, can't be bothered with you. Also making an appointment is near impossible. Why is it so hard to find a decent doctor in Vermont?
I had a physical there recently. Almost two months later when I did not receive the result of the physical, I called the office to ask why, and I was told they do not send out the result of the physical. what?? What is the physical for then? The bill arrived quickly, and on the bill, I got charged for a secondary visit that I was never scheduled for. It seems they are only interested and quick to sending you bill but not anything else. Not recommend.
Warm, knowledgeable physicians, nurses and staff. Coming from a culture that primarily only used specialists, I have been impressed and appreciative of their knowledge and care. My child was diagnosed with a rare cancer and our team went the extra mile to make sure that we received the best treatment plan. Now that my children are adults, the local children have chosen to remain with this practice. They too feel comfortable to be honest with their health and appreciate their expertise!
I have nothing but good things to say about this practice. My whole family uses this office for primary care. We have found the office to be well-organized, and our providers to be efficient and professional. My daughter and I see Michele L. -she is thorough, caring and responsive to our medical concerns.
Went to the doctor multiple times in severe pain in my neck, back and arm. I was scared and didn’t know what was wrong with me. I couldn’t sleep, it was almost impossible to work. The doctor did eventual order an xray, that showed nothing wrong. The Dr prescribed an antidepressant, muscle relaxers, NSAIDS, but none of it helped, and I still didn’t know what my problem was. Dealt with this for about 4 months – mainly feeling like I was not credible, and there really was nothing wrong with me, whenever I went in. Eventually went to PT, and they immediately said I have a pinched nerve. 7 years later, tweaked my neck, could not move and was in blinding pain, arm was on fire, and my hand and arm went mostly numb. Called Dr office, they called back, but I missed it – called them again and left a voice mail, but they never called me back. Went to the ER, they did an MRI that shows I have a herniated disk in my neck, bone spurs, and stenosis. I’m thankful they didn’t call me back, or I may have been given the run around for months more. I’m not sure if they are too busy to care, or if there are better doctors there, but I have not had good luck…. Time to find a new Dr.
Shannon Barnes was my doctor at Thomas Chittenden. I was in a bad car accident about a year ago and Shannon knew that…when I went in she asked me nothing about how I’m doing doing mentally and physically or about my recovery, so my parents switched my doctors because they were not impressed. The last time I saw her she came in the room for 5 minutes or less and asked me about medicines for anxiety and depression and my adhd meds. Would not recommend HER as your doctor!
Stay away from here if want to stay healthy. This place cares nothing about your personal well being. It’s all referrals and pharmaceuticals. I’ve been a patient here for over four years and I’ve never even had a physical. There copycat drs that go by what other records say. Which we all know are never accurate. Take charge of your own health! Be cautious of polite drs who in turn cause problems and care less behind your back!!!
