My wife picked up some yarn and tools here, staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They also have online tutorials and in person classes for beginners.
The store is decent and has fun and quality options as a small business. Not really happy about the fact that gift cards are separated between online and in person. So the online gift card my long distance friends bought me were useless in person when I commuted an hour to look at the yarn in store as I have never used these types of yarn before and went in to see the variety. Also as someone who helps run a business and also as a customer, the responses to the lower reviews or critiques could be much better as they sound defensive and are filled with excuses instead of trying to resolve the issues privately with the customers.
What an amazing little store. I amnBy no means a knitter. My daughter joined knitting club at school and took on a project of knitting me a sweater. Marina made sure we had all the right supplies, was super knowledgeable and patient. A fantastic experience and fabulous retail experience. We need more Marina’s in retail. Simply excellent.
Lovely selection of yarns but holy moly some of the older women who work here are so rude! I came in looking for needles and was helped by one really nice younger lady. When I had questions for the two older women all I got were shakes of the head or pointing - they didn’t even talk to me. Definitely not the first time I’ve experienced this here and probably won’t be the last. If they carry the yarn you’re looking for, I would highly recommend Wet Coast Wools! They are always super friendly there and happy to answer questions about their products.
I love Urban Yarns! It's my favourite yarn store. They have a large selection of both affordable and more luxurious yarn, and they carry the best needles and notions in Vancouver. I've purchased wayyy too many Coco Knits things from them lol, and recently splurged and treated myself to two sets of interchangeable Addi needles long and short tips -- best needles ever!. I love being able to support a local business and I hope they hold more open knitting hours on Sundays as I'd love to hang out and knit in such a nice space :
