Ambiance is 10/10, cute, casual diner to grab brunch. My favorite was the Tocino plate if you don’t like fatty bits, you’ll just have to work around it. Wish the steak was more flavorful. Service was super sweet and fast!
Had a great breakfast with a couple of friends. The staff was super friendly and quick. Had a very nice cozy atmosphere. The portion sizes were just right. I ordered the Tocino breakfast. It was delicious the pork was juicy and tender. I would recommend calling ahead for a table if you can. Super busy when we went but the wait wasn't all too bad just about 20 minutes.
A great place for Filipino breakfast although parking was a bit challenging. Must try their steaks, so juicy and flavorful. We also tried their baby bangus which was so tasty. They also offered free soup/ congee, and tea for in house customers.
I’ve honestly never been to a Filipino restaurant before, but will definitely be going to more after trying Uncle Mike’s! It’s a perfect hearty, savory breakfast/brunch with great portions, flavors, and vibes. Our group of 6 had a ~20 minute wait for Sunday brunch at 10:30am, and they luckily let us put our name on the waitlist without having our full party present. Once seated, they gave us each a complimentary bowl of Lugau Filipino rice porridge, which was so rich in flavor and soul-warming. I ordered the Baby Bangus & Tocino Combo, which was incredible. The bangus Pacific milk fish was perfectly crispy, and the tocino pork shoulder was so flavorful and mildly sweet. The garlic rice was rich in flavor and, paired with runny eggs, was delightful. I also tried some of my friends’ skirt steak and longanisa pork sausage, which were also great— especially the loganisa! You really can’t go wrong with any of the meat options, though I would particularly recommend the tocino and loganisa. The Filipino breakfast dishes also come with a small bowl of chocolate rice porridge, which was creamy and the perfect level of sweetness. We also ordered coffees, which was $3.95 per person and bottomless. Unfortunately, none of the Filipino breakfast options are vegetarian/vegan-friendly, but there are a few other veg-friendly options on the menu, like pumpkin pancakes and french toast, which 2 of my friends ordered and enjoyed. The prices are a little high, but for the quantity and quality of food provided, it’s very reasonable. The restaurant interior is decorated simply, with super cute food and flower tiles spanning the walls, and the ambience is comfortable and homey. The service was also exceptionally sweet, friendly, and attentive. — Price relative to peers: 4.5/5 Food: 5/5 Ambience: 4.5/5 Overall Value: 5/5
This place is legit and not just a tourist attraction for foodies. I grew up with this kind of food and I expected nothing less. The food was great, the staff were great, and I basically felt right at home. If you're visiting Chicago or in the area, this is a no-brainer if you like comfort food.
Amazing neighborhood Filipino brunch spot, but feels pricey. tocino and spam were delicious. Bangus was good but would definitely choose the other breakfast options. The complementary lugaw was one of the best things I’ve had. Came here for brunch Friday and got seated quickly with excellent service. Worth the trip!
Not sure why it took me so many years to come here - I totally regret not coming sooner!!! Uncle Mike’s is AMAZING. Huge portions, so much complimentary food porridge to start and soup to end, and the staff is all just so warm and friendly. I personally loved the tocino breakfast more than the steak, but the steak is a fan favorite. We got 2 breakfast plates for 3 people and still had leftovers. There’s such a homey vibe that makes you feel like you’re really at your uncle’s for brunch. Do not make the same mistake I made - go try it ASAP!
Super friendly and attentive wait staff. The service was fast and the food was really good. They have a great selection of Filipino breakfast items along with American breakfast option.
Server are friendly and great. I came for the food ! Not the atmosphere. As long as I feel safe sitting in while I eat my food!& not gonna get Robbed! Am all good! Thank you uncle Mike..
We were greeted instantly upon entering, got a table and was served the hot bowl of porridge as we sat down. Service was great: attentive but not overbearing. Food came out fast, only wish the rice was served hotter. The entire staff was friendly, would definitely come back to try other dishes. Food: 4/5
