Ina Mae Tavern & Packaged Goods
"Over the years, Chef Brian Jupiter and I have taken several trips to New Orleans. Since Brian was born and raised there, I had the luxury of viewing the city through the lens of one of its natives. During our visits, the charming Mom-and-Pop joints, dive bars and corner stores always resonated with me. They were also the special places where everything goes. No one ever apologized for who they were and why they were having a good time. Our trips always left us feeling invigorated. In New Orleans, every day seemed like Friday.Ina Mae Tavern & Packaged Goods is a tribute to those adventures. We want you to eat and drink like they do in the free spirited South. After all, the only thing worth fussing about is a great time."

Went for dinner. Started with the rum punch which has rotating juices. I liked the juices but couldn’t taste any alcohol. I wasn’t looking to get drunk but for $12 I wouldn’t liked to taste some alcohol. Shared the crab/cheese fondue as an appetizer. It was loaded with crab and very tasty! Had the chicken tenders and buttermilk biscuit for dinner. That biscuit is full of butter and I love it! The chicken was very juicy but didn’t have a lot of flavor. Asked for more of the hot honey and got a small amount which I was charged $1 for. I don’t mind being charged, but please give me more. We shared the side of Mac and cheese. It is dense, almost like a casserole/custard, which is fine by me. Overall, I like this place and the decor. Next time I’d try some different entree options.
The best gumbo I have ever had and I don’t need to go to New Orleans to have it. It’s a small cup of soup but packed with many delicious ingredients. The cup felt like one pound. No joking! I was almost full and couldn’t finish the Grand Slam breakfast. I tried the gator sausages and I’m not a fan. But the rest of the food was delicious. They have live music too! Love everything about this restaurant!
Tasty food for a great value. The portions are pretty large. The biscuits are buttery goodness. Fried chicken came out steamy hot and had great flavor. Service and drinks were good. Would definitely come back. Be aware that not all of the chairs are the same. Some have backs and some do not. If you have a preference, make sure to indicate in your reservation.
Man, this place looked like it was going to be great. We arrived on bingo night. It was loud but a fun atmosphere. The service was very friendly and fast. The food, however, was very disappointing. The chicken was dry, the dip had no love, and the Mac n cheese was actually spaghetti. Very odd.Food: 3/5
Stopped by yesterday celebrating June teeth as a solo diner. It wasn't extremely crowded but made a reservation just in case. They had a nice unassuming background, but keep in mind dining during brunch or later in the evening might be more lively. I had the hurricane to drink, which was light in flavor and not boozy. They have a wide variety of food options, which is always a pleasant invitation to come back to try other dishes, but for today I ordered the catfish with fries. It's not the best I've had but the fish was soft and flaky and no real issues. To finish, I ordered the beignets, and these things are humongous. Giant donuts with powdered sugar, so be careful because it can get messy. They provide the perfect backdrop to a warm summer, think of it like being at a summer festival with the food trucks. The service was really nice and personable, which to me ranks above the food in any establishment. Overall, I enjoyed myself, the food, and if you're looking for a cozy spot for great Southern comfort food, look no further than Ina Mae's.
Stumbled upon this place while exploring Wicker Park and was pleasantly surprised by the New Orleans theme. I sat at the bar and was served right away on a Saturday night. Great selection on tap. My fried shrimp poboy was on point, no deviations from the classic recipe! I loved the Old Bat fries, too. Great place to sit and chat or just have a drink.
Great place for brunch with love music and bloody mary station. We had an amazing time here with delicious food: - beignets pillowy, addictive, highly recommended - chargrilled oysters delicious, perfectly grilled, great to share - fried chicken big portion w plenty of food, a drizzle of maple syrup, well seasoned, great crisp Great food and great service! We definitely feel sluggish and were craving for salad and fresh fruit afterwards.
I visited a while ago, and I had an amazing experience. The po boy was AMAZING. Very big sandwich so if you're a small eater, you can share. I love the snow ball drinks. They tend to be a bit busy, but the food and drinks are worth it.
I had higher expectations from all the great reviews but was disappointed with cocktails, service and portion size. Highly recommend the blue crab fondue. The absinthe cocktail drip was not served as described. The seafood tower was not up to expectations. Willing to try the place on a different occasion. Will try other menu items next time.
Fun and lively place. Lots of chicken. Veggie options as well. Wear elasticated trousers!! We went as a party of five and had fun. Lovely interiors. Helpful and friendly staff.
